New Year’s Resolution For Friends

If you could make a New Year’s resolution for one of your friends, what would it be?

It’s that time again when we make New Year’s resolutions. However, those resolutions are often difficult to meet. It’s even worse making them for others.

Everybody is unique, and we do not know everything about other people. That is why I do not make New Year’s resolutions or other kinds of goals for friends or other people. First, I am not completely sure what they need, want, or are able to accomplish. Then, making resolutions for others may make them uncomfortable and even upset, because they could feel stress, pressure, violation of rights, and domination placed on them. Finally, setting goals and resolutions on friends and other people is somewhat like controlling their lives and forcing things my way, which I would not like to do.

That is why I do not make New Year’s resolutions for others. I would rather have others make their own and set their own goals, unless it is required, such as in an improvement program, or they ask me to do it.
