My Favorite Season
Summer is changing to fall here in the U.S. What is your favorite season of the year?
Besides back-to-school, another thing I am not really happy about September is the end of my favorite season, summer. However, a long vacation from school is not the reason for preferring summer over the other three seasons. I usually attend summer school or participate in academic and community activies, or June, July, and August will become monotonous.
What I really like about summer is the longer daylight hours, more sunshine, almost no rain, and higher temperatures. This type of weather allows me to wear short sleeves and shorts, which provides me with more convenience and speed since nothing is blocking my arms and legs. Clothes with less fabric also lighten my laundry load, saving money in the long run.
I just can’t stand being bundled up, especially on my limbs. It makes me feel smothered and the clothing material on my arms and legs slow me down, which is the worst part. I enjoy moving quickly. Covering limbs means more fabric, which takes up more areas in laundry machines. Sometimes, that requires more loads and money. That is why I hate winter.
I also can’t stand the shorter daylight hours, more darkness, cold temperatures, rain, and gloominess in winter. Rain is usually the worst part. It is a big inconvenience and hindrance, especially to speed. I understand we need rain, but not to the point of flooding and soaking. Rain is better if it falls at night only.
Fall is a sign that winter will soon arive. That is why I don’t like that season very much, either. I do not like seeing the daylight hours shortening or temperatures getting colder, which means long sleeves and pants. Many forms of life also decline.
When winter becomes spring, the opposite happens: rebirth and rise of many life forms. That is a happy sight. It also signals the lengthening of daylight hours, increasing temperatures, cheer, and the arrival of my favorite season, summer.
