Movies I Liked

What was the best movie you ever saw? Why did you like it?

Why are Oscars being held earlier this year? I am still looking for the answer to that.  It is also held right after a busy week, where I have many activities.

What is the best movie I’ve ever seen? It’s hard to tell.  I’ve seen many good movies in my life, and each one is great in its own different way.  I usually end up liking every movie I see… Well, at least I used to.  I prefer the older movies.

Many newer movies are just stupid, often no plot, but full of nasty and improper content that make me sick and irritated.  As some of my friends complained, "Before the movies have story.  Now, they’re mostly pornography."  I find that true, so I think many of the Oscar nominees don’t even deserve the nomination and awards: I could not stand Moulin Rouge or Chicago.  I don’t like the loud and bangy music in those movies.  The point of modern movies often seems to be violence and sexual content, which I can’t stand.

I usually like movies that teach good lessons, end happily, and leave out nasty and improper content, so you can say I’m a Disney person.  I often like the songs in Disney movies, and other so-called kids’ movies.  I also prefer shorter movies since I have trouble sitting still.

I have the DVDs for the first two parts of the Harry Potter (HP) and The Lord of the Rings (LOTR) movies.  I am waiting for the Special Extended DVD for The Return of the King (ROTK), as well as the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (POA) movie in June.  I have already seen ROTK in theater 4 times, that is more than The Two Towers (TTT), which was 3 times, but less than The Fellowship of the Ring (FOTR), which was 5 times.  I saw Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (COS) in theater twice.  The HP movies were more faithful to the books than LOTR movies.

Another movie I’ve seen more than once in theater is Titanic.  I have also rented and saw How the Grinch Stole Christmas several times because I like the story and songs.  It is just touching.  A recent movie I liked is Big Fish.  It seems to have more meaning and less improper content.  I think the The Last Samurai and Cold Mountain should have deserved better nominations.  Anti-war messages are good, because war is not the answer.  Both movies would have been better if they had left out those graphic scenes.  The same goes for The Butterfly Effect and 50 First Dates.

I still plan to watch the Oscars Sunday.  I hope the better movies win.

I agree about the movies…they do get less and less of a story and more and more of when the couple will have sex
