Death of Rosa Parks
Rosa Louise McCauley Parks, an African American seamstress and civil rights activist, was diagnosed with progressive dementia in 2004. Today, October 24, 2005, she died at the age of 92.
She is known as the Mother of Civil Rights, because on December 1, 1955, she refused to give up her bus seat when the "white section" was full. This resulted in her arrest, which should not have happened, because she did what was right. African Americans were being discriminated and denied many rights by those racist rules. Fortunately, there were others who followed in fighting for civil rights, including Martin Luther King, Jr. I’m glad she is honored.
Racism hasn’t ended today. The only difference is people are now doing it indirectly by mind games to be able to get away with it. That is not just discriminating, but also cheating, so they should receive double punishment. Discriminaiton by race and other harmless differences should be considered a crime.
