Bad and Good Fads

Which fads do you miss? Which ones did you hate?

The society is becoming more and more corrupt, and fads or trends have played a terrible role in it.  Most fads, especially the modern ones, are unpleasant.  They are usually related to rudeness, meanness, deceit, arrogance, ego, bias, discrimination, and improper things.

That is the reason I usually don’t miss fads.  For example, I can’t stand exposing body parts (except for head, arms, and legs), tattoos, body piercings, pornos, or loud and bangy music.  These are improper.  I really hate sarcasm, because people use them to indirectly attack others and play mind names.  In the early 1990s, I remember being upset at the trend of saying something, hesitating, then adding "NOT."  It either gives someone a few seconds of false hope, which is then shattered, causing greater disappointment then before, or shocks someone for a few seconds, which is not a good feeling.  Loud and bangy music causes headaches and dizziness and damages ears.  Unfortunately, this fad is worsening.

Another worsening fad is cell phones.  Everywhere I go, I hear cell phones going off or people talking on them, which is disturbing, especially in class or libraries.  Cell phones are making people more narrow-minded and cliquey.  Whenever they have free time, the immediately pull out their phones and start talking, providing less and less opportunities to make new friends and making people feel more rejection.  Unpleasant fads are also growing on the internet.  For example, people are playing mind games, attacking others, chatting or writing about nasty and improper content through IMs, chat rooms, MBs, and online journals.  Technology has really led to too many negative trends.

There are some trends I do miss, such as the A-type mini skirts that reach the knees or an inch above the knees.  I liked the velcro shoes fad in the 1980s, because they were faster and more convenient to put on.  I also miss the slow and smooth music.  In all, I could say I miss most of the older fads, but hate most of the newer trends.

Actually, I don’t really miss trends, because I’m not aware of many of them.  They change so quickly that I don’t have the time or money to keep up with them, so I always feel left behind, which makes fads a bad influence to society. by making people feel left out.  Trends influence the society negatively.  They violate rights and freedom by encouraging discimination and cliques.  Those who don’t follow trends are usually considered "weird," "crazy," or "stupid."

People should really stop creating or following fads.  "Everybody is unique."  As long as something different doesn’t cause harm, then people accept it.

I agree with some of this, most of it…especially the cell phones. I use to work in a call center, and everytime anyone had a break – out came the phone…and I had a problem calling family/friends on weekends because I was sick of the dang thing! lol
