There’s a Cop at the Door.
Yesterday, I didn’t work until 2:30. On those days, I like to wake up early and spend the morning being lazy, watching House, and relaxing on the couch surfing the internet. So, naturally, that’s precisely what I was up to.
It was about 9am, I was watching House, and the doorbell rang. I opened the door to find that there was a police officer standing on the doorstep. He said, "Hello, I’m looking for Cassandra."
This may be wrong, slightly, but this excited me. I smiled and replied, "Sure! She’s in bed, let me get her for you." I held the door open so he could come in.
So, I went into my sisters room, woke her up, and informed her that there was a cop at the door to talk to her. She didn’t even seem to care. Instead of getting up, she WHINED, and said, "I’m sleeping, Sam, and I feel like crap. I’m siiiiiick." She sniffled for effect.
Rolling my eyes at her, I said, "Uhh, Cassie. This is a COP. You do realize that if you don’t get out of bed, he will come in here and talk to you, right?"
Slowly, she pulled herself out of bed and walked upstairs to find him standing in the doorway. She didn’t even say anything before he said, "Hello Cassandra, I’m here to take you to school. Go get yourself ready." He didn’t say it kindly, mind you, firmly and harshly.
My sister had the nerve to say, "I’m sick, I feel like crap." Really?!?! That’s, like, arguing with a cop. Stupid kid.
So anyway, he gets firmer with her and says, "I don’t believe you. Go get ready. NOW." …And she did. She sat in the bathroom not doing much of anything for nearly 20 minutes, but she got herself up and ready, and went to school.
At around 10am, he brought her back so she could take a shower. She met with the counselors, attendance officer, principal, assistant principal, the police officer, and who know who else. She seemed really grouchy within that hour and actually was ready to go within the time limit the cop gave her. (I had to drive her back.)
Today, my dad is getting out of work early so he can meet with everyone, including my sister.
And, get this… she went to school today. Crazy.
I had to drive her, though. Naturally, she’s too lazy to get herself ready in time for the bus.
Needless to say, that was a very amusing part of my day. My dad was so happy that everything happened like that, he’s just so clueless and at a loss on how to handle her.
Oh, and Cassie said the reason why she hadn’t gone to school is, "Because I’d rather sleep, I didn’t feel like going, and I hate seeing everyones faces. I hate this town." How dramatic.
I really hope she doesn’t get a truancy ticket because it would do nothing for my sister, but punish my dad. And my did IS trying.
