Survey Says…

Name 10 different songs. All with different artists.
1. I Started a Joke -Beegees but I like the Faith No More version.
2. Never Been to Spain -Hoyt Axton but everyone knows the 3 Dog Night version. (Smiley face for anyone who can tell me what other Hoyt Axton song 3 Dog Night made famous.)
3. Perserverance -Hatebreed
4. Blow Up the Outside -Soundgarden
5. No Rain – Blind Melon
6. Barroom Hero -Dropkick Murphies
7. No Woman, No Cry -Bob Marley
8. Sell Out! -Reel Big Fish
9. What the Hell Have I? -Alice in Chains
10. I Get a Kick Out of You -Cole Porter but I prefer Sinatra’s versions.

When was the last time you heard number 8?
 – Probably back in 2002.

How long have you liked the artist number 2 for?
 – Long as I can remember. So about 27 years.

What’s your favorite music video by the artist number 5?
– No Rain. It’s flippin’ iconic.

What does number 3 remind you of?
  – Trying to make it through my miserable work existence on any given day.

What genre is number 1?
 – Not Sure. Disco was the general genre for the Beegee’s but that one wasn’t. So…meh. 70’s music. =)

Where did you first hear number 7?
 – Umm…the original Ziggy’s in Wiinston-Salem when the Wailers were there. Probably heard it before that but that’s the earliest one I can recall.

Do you think the artist for number 10 is attractive?
 – Don’t really swing like that, but I suppose Sinatra was a handsome man.

Have you seen number 4 live?
 – No, but they’re going on tour again so there’s hope yet.

How did you first hear the artist number 9?
 – Headbanger’s Ball way, WAY back in the day when MTV was still doing music videos as a matter of course.

What is the first song you remember hearing from number 3?
– I Will Be Heard

Does your parents approve of number 10?
– It’s "Do your parents", not "does your parents". Honestly they would prefer artists 1-9 most of the time.

How many times have you listened to number 6 on your ipod/MP3?
 – Never. I don’t own an iPod or MP3 player. But I have listened to them on Vinyl…way better.

Does your friends like number 1 as an artist?
 – What’s with you killing the Queen’s English? "Do your friends…". Sheesus. Um, some of them. More so on Faith No More than the Beegee’s for most of my friends.

Whats your favorite lyrics from number 9?

 –  "Your soul served on a plate/Throw it away/ It’s hard to start this over/You can feel the fire ’round us/ all the tiiiiiiiiiiiimmme yeah"

Describe the artist from number 2 in one word?

 – If you mean Hoyt Axton, Underrated. If you mean 3 Dog Night, Classic.

What is the song number 5 about?
 – Well if I had known Shannon Hoon personally, I would have said it was about me, because every word of it is true of me. But given that he didn’t know me, I’ll say it was about himself most likely, in which case, we have a lot in common.

What mood does number 8 put you in?
 – Good

Do you like number 4 as an artist?
 – Aye.

Why do you like the song number 7?
 – How can you not?

“Face down in the gutter, won’t admit defeat, though his clothes are soiled and black, he’s a big strong man with a child’s mind, don’t you take his booze away” One of the songs I’ve heard live. Freakin’ love DKM. Excellent song choices, sir. m/

Haha. Their website has them on vinyl. Makes me wish I had a record player.

Made the friends list. My life is complete. 😀 I had all of their albums, on CD sadly, until I let my ex-manager borrow them…I haven’t worked with her in over a year. Needless to say…I rely on Spotify for my DKM.

Wouldn’t surprise me if that was the reason they cancelled it, unfortunately. I loved The X-Files. I watched that show religiously. Up until Mulder left. Then it kind of sucked. I found all those shows on Netflix. I’m in the process of trying to convert my 6 year old away from the horror known as Spongebob and introduce her to good cartoons. Not only the previously mentioned once, but mypersonal favorites…The Angry Beavers, Hey Arnold!, AHH! Real Monsters. Man, I miss being a kid.

That’s very true. Not suffering is much better.

August 24, 2012

*laughs* My dad brings up the Angry Beavers a lot. His favorite one was when Norbert and Daggett had the staring contest. And maybe the stinky toe. We watched a lot of Rocket Power, too. I’ve been trying for 2 years. Hasn’t worked so far.

Yes. Yes it did. The black and white episodes were awesome, as were the ones Stephen King wrote. It’s hard to describe my favorite because I don’t remember much about it except at the very end, Scully walked into Mulder’s office and as they’re talking, he gets hit in the face when a pencil falls down. I laughed so hard at that. I still would.

Best episode of Rocket Power – When Sam was supposed to do a trick that he couldn’t really do and they’re interviewing him and you can see the ocean behind him. There’s a UFO that flies in, picks up a whale out of the water, and takes off with it. So dang funny.

That’s a set I would like to have. I remember spending Friday nights with my best friend, getting her tv set up, and watching it together. Then we’d act it out. I always had to be Scully. I think it was the red hair.

August 24, 2012

I think I’m going to end up spending the rest of the night trying to find that episode. LOL.

I loved No Rain. Good song. 🙂
