she dreams of africa, true love, and a place within that won’t be broken
by unkind words, or empty rooms, or the endless search for something never spoken
she’s starting over now
layered thrift store clothes, unkepmt hair, dark like the winter
her smile is bright, her laugh is warm, and her beauty shames the sunrise
she’s started over now
she won’t forget the past that shaped her heart
the things she gave up when she gave everything
she shows confidence in the way she walks
gives me comfort in the way she talks
her loyalty is something I can lean on
she’s going to be a painter
a dancer
an artist
she’s started over now
she’s started over now
