Of course my plans are ruined…It’s for my bday

Why is it that every year I end up having a sucky ass birthday?  I wish that just once I could have a good birthday celebration without something ruining my plans.  This year I had planned on going to Pittsburgh for a week and visiting with friends and family and then having a big night out on the town with my old friends on the actual day of my birthday.  But now I can’t go because of work.  We fired one supervisor on Tuesday and yesterday the other one quit so that leaves just me and Maria.  If I take vacation next week then Maria would have to work open to close everyday for a total of 79 hours.  She said she didn’t care because she wanted me to take my vacation but then last night she changed her mind and said she couldn’t work that many hours.  Like I wanted to work 55 hours last week while she was on vacation.  Like I wanted to work all weekend long after getting only 2 hours of sleep on Saturday and 1 hour on Sunday.  I had plans for Saturday evening which I had to miss because I had to go back into work. She got to take her vacation and I had to work everyday and put in long hours and deal with drama.  I just want some relax time and have some fun with my friends and family I haven’t seen in a long time.  Am I asking too much?
