Ave Q / Flight Home
My Stumpy boy is enjoying having my undivided attention. Where Dagney made her own terms, Stumpy loves to be picked up and carried around. He really brought smiles from a jogger passing the house a few days back. I was watering in the front with Stumpy draped around my neck. His torso is long and skinny enough to where he is a perfect fit. I had on a sweat shirt so his dug in claws held him firmly in place. He was so happy to enjoy the world from that vantage point! What special relationships I have been able to develop with my two cats over the years. How I would love to duplicate the interaction I had with my little Daggy, but I’m afraid that was a once in a lifetime happening.
Let me get the New York City trip wrapped up.
Wednesday night October 16:
I got a cheap ticket the TKTS Booth for Avenue Q. I have wanted to see this for the longest time. I really enjoyed the performance. I did not stay out late as I had to get an early start in the morning. My tracfone has an alarm which has come in very handy. I was up before the alarm at 4:45 a.m. I had decided to take the express bus from the Port Authority rather than the Subway to 125th St and then the M60 bus to the LaGuardia. At that hour of the morning dragging luggage around the subway in unfamiliar territory would be too much of a hassle.
The city was so quiet and still as I made my way to the Port Authority at 8th and 43rd St to catch the Bus. The ticket was only $13.00. The bus made one stop at Grand Central Station before LaGuardia. I wish I had known this as it would have saved me a lot of walking! Oh well, I needed the exercise!
I had plenty of time to get a coffee and egg sandwich from Dunkin Donuts to tide me over at the terminal. I was able to get an aisle seat in the front half of the plane. We took off on time. This flight first went to Houston, but I did not change planes.
The center seat was vacant and the nicest young woman was in the window seat. Halfway through the flight she used the restroom. This was no real problem. But, our flight was early in arriving to Houston and just as we were descending this woman had to use the bathroom again… immediately!! We were stuck on the runway because of the gate crew not being in place and she was forbidden by the flight attendants to leave her seat under ANY circumstances. Most of the people seated around us realized there was a problem. She was in such pain…there is nothing worse than trying to hold back when you have to go so badly. I said loud enough for those near us to hear, “Soon as that seat belt sign goes off, I’ll jump into the aisle and you run fast as you can to the bathroom.” We did just that…the passengers let this poor girl run through before clogging the aisle. I’m glad to report all transpired well. I’m sure each passenger in that front part of the plane had empathy for this woman.
It was a routine flight to Birmingham and drive home from the airport for me. Stumpy was so glad to have his “dad” home again. He ran right outside to explore and check over his territory.
What a great trip I had. Think this will cancel out the excursions I’ve been doing to NYC in December. This trip was my fix for the year. After the last brick swap in Louisiana, I just want to stay put for a while. I uncovered a rare/great fire hydrant in Richmond, Virginia. I’m to beat up to even contemplate a road trip for it.
It was nice to get here today….tho I don’t know if I can leave a note or not. Yes, the trip sounds great. Yes too, I’ve found that just having one cat at a time works well. You do sound great. Blogger….at least I can get there every day. So good to see a note from you. Have a great weekend. Ok…I’ll try to leave a note.

I love the thought of you gardening with Stumpy draped around your neck! I can’t imagine any of the cats I’ve owned allowing me to do that with them. Stump must be particularly placid and friendly.
