Twitterpated

I don’t understand Twitter.  It’s like the Facebook status thing but set up for an entirely separate website.  It’s like Twitter ripped off Facebook and now Facebook has ripped off Twitter because the new Facebook only shows people’s statuses, just like Twitter!

(Side note on Facebook: New Facebook sucks horribly.  Original Facebook was the best.  I liked the fact that you had to actually be a student to join.  I liked the fact that it wasn’t as cluttered as Myspace.  I liked the fact that it was clean and easy to use.  And then the updated Facebook had the status thing and the horribly obnoxious applications.  I hated it but over time, I got used to it.  And now with the latest Facebook incarnation, I just can’t take it anymore.  Everything is so discombobulated.  Plus, I still don’t fully know about their policies.  Do they still own everything or did they change their minds or are they going to reinstate the ownership of all of our stuff soon?  Facebook sucks!  And Myspace is virtually dead so there’s nowhere else to go!)

Back to Twitter.  So, it’s like the Facebook status thing and I hate the Facebook status thing.  I admit I update my status sometimes but the key word is sometimes.  I don’t care if someone updates ’cause sometimes it’s fun to read about what people are up to and sometimes people have interesting or funny statuses but these people usually only do it occasionally.  I have "friends" on Facebook that severely abused the status thing.  They’d update every five minutes with the most inane updates.

"I’m eating a sandwhich."

"That was a good sandwhich."

"I just washed my hands."

"Now my hands smell good!"

"Bored."

"Oh my gosh, I have so much to do!"

Well obviously not if you have enough time to update your Facebook every two seconds.  Loser.  And Twitter is basically heaven for someone like that.  And as much as I hate it, I have a Twitter!  I know, it doesn’t make any sense.  Honestly, the only reason I signed up for Twitter is so that I could send updates via my fancy new touch screen phone.  I just wanted to use the virtual QWERTY keyboard.  Plus, I figured it would be something fun to do in class.  During breaks I could upate on how boring the class was or write down something interesting that happened.  But then I returned the phone and went back to my old boring one and ever since then, I haven’t been as motivated to update.  And then people started following me so then I figured I should keep updating to give these people something to read.

Frankly, I think Twitter is stupid.  Yet, I have one.  And I have to say it’s not because I am following the latest internet trend because I was actually the first one within my group of acquaintances to get one.  I’ve pretty much kept mine just so I’ll have something else to read online.  I have these certain websites I visit daily but sometimes they grow stale and I get bored and Twitter is just another site to occupy my time when I get bored.

I have to find something better to do to occupy my time.
