A Little Advice Would be so Very Nice

So, kiddos, a lot has been going on and I just haven’t been in the mood to write about it.  But I will, I promise.

‘Cause since this past Wednesday, I have a lot more free time on my minds.

I’ll be writing about that soon.

But for now, I’m crying out for a little advice.

I really really really really really (really) want to write a book about my first year at school.  I was planning on taking my OD entries, plus personal entries, and compiling them together into a book.  My question is, should I simply put all of my diary entries into the book and let that speak for itself, or should I make the book more…narrative?  I don’t even know if that’s the correct word to use.  I guess what I’m asking is should the book read like a diary or should I turn it more into a memoir-ish kind of story?

I’m really stuck on how I should go about writing this darn thing.

I’ve been wanting to write this book for so long now, around two years or so, but I just haven’t been motivated enough to do it.  The only problem is that as time goes by, my memories of things are starting to get fuzzy.  So, the longer I wait, the more I’ll have to rely on the diary entries for content instead of memory.  Lately, though, I’ve been inspired to start working on it again.

Currently, I’m reading How to Make Love Like a Zombie on my Kindle.  It was a book published on LuLu (which is what I was going to use to publish my book) and it’s pretty much not so amazing.  Naturally, I bought the thing because of the title.  But as I read it, I’m finding all of these grammatical errors and missing punctuation, etc,. and I thought to myself, “I can do better than this!”

Someone is probably thinking right now, "Really?  You think you can do better?  ‘Cause your entries have tons of mistakes in them."  I realize that many of my entries are riddled with errors and while I’m not apathetic about it, often I’m too lazy to go back and read through what I’ve just written.  See, guys, you aren’t the only ones who think my entries are way too long.  I’m very much aware that sometimes I write way too much because when I go back to proofread, I often say “screw it” ‘cause it’s too long to read through again! LoL.  I’m lame.  But this also isn’t anything professional.  This is just a silly little diary that I write in for fun.  Of course I want people to take the content seriously but I feel that if the message is strong enough, people will look past minor mistakes.  But for my book I will definitely be a lot more careful.

But, yeah, I figured if this guy can write this book so filled with mistakes, then I can as well!!  But hopefully I’d do a way better job.  Maybe I can find someone to edit it for me!

Gosh, even this entry was longer than I had hoped for.

Back to the initial question: should I make the book read like a diary or like a story?  What do you think would be more interesting?

Once I figure out how I’m going to format the book, writing it shouldn’t be that difficult.  If I’d just get off my lazy butt and get to work on it!
