Thoughts of Vengeance
She stomped back and forth across the small room, her tiny feet making incredible amounts of sound against the hardwood floor. Anne, one of Marius’s adepts and the second of his first pair of students, was in a fury, tears welling in her grey eyes. One hand was curled around her lower stomach, a protective gesture, empty now, that she could not stop. The other was balled tightly, so tightly that small drops of blood marked her passage through the room. Anger made her eyes spark, her light brown hair snap as though caught in an electric field. Her pale skin was flushed, and as she stomped, she moved between raging and crying.
She felt so horribly empty. The child she had carried joyfully, planned for, dreamt about, agonized over naming…the child she had wanted to bear so badly was gone. Murdered, she thought bitterly, by an uncaring bitch who had thought only of her own jealousy and advancement. Anne’s previous caring for her fellow student, Spider, was banished in waves of despair and fury. She still had difficulty believing that Spider could do something like this so casually, that she could cut the bond between mother and child with a stroke of magic and call herself human still. Anne’s hand tightened, forcing more blood to drip to the floor as she stood still, trembling with the force of her anger. Spider, the woman she had called friend, had ‘looked ahead’ (apparently) and seen Anne’s child being a destructive force equal to Marius. She had taken matters into her own hands, and… Well the rest was easily understood, considering the emptiness of her own womb and the tears which continually flooded her eyes. Anne felt…cold.
She couldn’t accurately describe it. It was anger so hot it was freezing, so cold that it chilled her. Perhaps what truly frightened her were the thoughts which were buzzing in her head. Anne was having images of…truly horrible things. She thought of what she had secretly desired for quite some time, and with a mental click, everything fell together. A smile spread across Anne’s face, one which had never been there before. It was one of pure cruelty, which the Water ring bearer should not have been able to feel. Anne stroked her stomach, and smiled a little more.
"She took you from me, but that’s okay. I’ll take everything I can from her, and maybe just a little bit more."
