The First Sighting Of The Day
Waking up, early morning
Cursing daybreak for beating me to
The first sighting of the day
Of you
You breathe out in your slumber
May you be as contented in your waking hours
As you seem now, at rest
You’ve even made the darkness cower
At least for another night.
We could spend all day in bed
I’d be transfixed by your grace
Some would say such slovenliness is unforgiveable
But I’d never see time spent with you as a waste
My fingers dance just above your skin
Like I was playing an air piano
It’d be a crime to wake you
And you’d be quick to tell me so
I just want to share this sight
But I guess you will never quite see
The way that you look
To me
At 4:35 in the morning
It’s the first sighting of you
I’ll take a photograph of memory
Blink the shutters to keep this moment
For posterity
And so I can describe it when you start to stir
When you make me swoon.
I really really really like this one… I think with a bit of proof reading it could be really amazing. Really lovely.
