Skitter

Amongst a backdrop of the pitter patter
From distant droplets of descending water
I hear my heart beat and skitter
From on to alarmingly off kilter

You do know that if you take off that vest
Exposing the fullness of your breasts
That it is likely to put me into cardiac arrest
I might die, I’d be lucky to survive at best

But if that’s what transpires, then fine
I’ll come as I go towards the other side
As I start to straighten out the wiggly line
My heart will skitter for the final time.
