Sweet Day Off Gabriel

My life is pretty good right now. Sorry, but it just is. My knee is all healed up from the fall last January. My house is all slicked up, buttoned up, and set up. My wife and I are getting along disturbingly well. She just looks so nice, has so many interesting things to talk about, and knows how to get Gabriel over here so well that it is just a blessing to have her for a mate. Work is nice. People there fuss and fret a lot, but that only makes it nicer for me who doesn’t.

I have good friends to drink coffee with. Some of them put me in touch with the new door guy. If you want to get something done, there is nothing for it like a bunch of old men. They have lived. They know how to get things done. Sometimes they even like my jokes. Many of such jokes are stolen from my big brother, though I do sometimes have to work at cleaning them up. No sense bringing up sex to old men who can’t have it anymore. I’m pretty sure no one does that after they turn 40 or so. Who would want to have babies at that age.

I sat around and drank coffee with Joe S. and Don C. for hours today. They are interesting guys. Joe is trying to fix up rust-through on his older cars. Don is interested in so many things it is hard to get a handle on him. In fact, both of them are. Further, most of the old guys I have coffee with have tons of amazing interests. How can anyone not love spending time with people? They are so fascinating.

I should have spent the day on the garage and yard as I planned, but by the time I got through coffee, returning the defective deadbolt, and visiting with Gabriel and Grace my day was done. I was on the Internet the last hour or two of the afternoon waiting for the door guy to finish for the day so I could pay him. His bill was just about exactly what I was expecting. So, there was no fuss about that. He even itemized his hours and expenses. All three doors shut so well you can’t see light anywhere around the moldings. If he doesn’t plug the two or three tiny holes where the weatherstripping doesn’t quite join completely, I can do that when I paint the jambs. He even bent one of the steel storm door jambs that was crooked when he un-boxed it. I would never have known how to do that. I would have messed with adjusting it for hours and either returned it or given up and left it ill-fitting. He is so patient with the work. I guess he might have reason to, since he is charging by the hour, but he isn’t just sitting around milking the hours, that’s for sure. He has exactly the right tool at hand for every part of the job. It’s a joy to watch, though of course, I am not staring at him.

Have a great weekend!

“No sense bringing up sex to old men who can’t have it anymore” LOL! To his dying day, my FIL loved a dirty joke. If they can’t do it, they sure do love to talk about it! Cute picture of your baby dumpling! 🙂
