NoJoMo 19

I stopped at Target last night and got a Western Digital My Passport drive. It works like a charm. Backed up my laptop’s had drive with just two or three clicks right out of the box. Wow. I got it because both my computer and Kathy’s are bollixed up. Mine just dies every 4-6 hours. It starts right back up and runs just fine, but 4-6 hours later is goes all black screened and unresponsive again. It started when I last “fixed” it. It was running slower and doing a few weird things. The biggest problem was actually that the camera quit working. Well, after backing up everything to DVDs, restoring it to factory and reinstalling everything about 8 months ago, it started this shut down thing. And the camera still doesn’t work anyway! Well, I am going to start fresh again and see if it stops the shut off thing.

Kathy’s computer is just getting slower and slower and slower. It now takes 20 minutes to boot up in the morning. At least mine isn’t doing that!

I got a copy of the latest version of Print Shop too. I hope it works. I do little printing of cards and such these days. Since Windows took over printing for programs and won’t let them do their own print drivers printing anything is dicey. I hate Microsoft. Hate it. I wish I could sue the pants off them for the mess they have created. Anyway, Print Shop has been a favorite standard for over 20 years now. It is one of few commercially successful applications for the home still kicking. The Internet has changed everything in computing. Everything.

Tomorrow is my last day of work for 10 days. Family visit time here we come! I vacuumed the front porch of sawdust (from the new doors) and vacuumed the yard of leaves when I got home from work today. Looks better for company we are expecting next week. I plan to do some more yard work and wash the new doors and windows. Maybe if they don’t come here until Wednesday (as the plan), I can get the new door trim painted too. That would be nice. The doors came with tiny plastic pieces to cover the window frame screw holes. I installed these caps and took the labels off the doors tonight. Oddly the caps on the cheaper side door were much better than the caps on the front door. The front door ones just didn’t fit right. No big deal. You still can’t even see them unless you are especially looking for them.
