Last week at church….

we got to talking about senility at mid-week Bible study prayer meeting. Our pastor mentioned a visit with a poor old lady who was in a nursing home and very confused after her husband passed on.

"Oh pastor," she said. "My husband XXX is just not fun since he died. I’d like to go out once in a while and he won’t go at all. The worst of it is his clothes.  He needs to come out shopping for new clothes. Why the only nice suit he has is the one we buried him in."

Now, that is confused.

I worked with lots of senile people when we lived in Pigeon Michigan. I found it quite consistent that their real personality came out when they got senile. Many were very nice. I loved spending time with them. They had such great stories to tell and told them with the same inspiration whether it was the first time or 50th time. I hope someone will still listen to me when my mind goes.

I listen to you all the time! 😉

Yes sweet Boxer, we will listen as much as we do now.

Funny notes above — I love it that they rib you! My mother went through that stage but now she hasn’t said but a couple of words now and then for the past two years. I miss her! She used to tell the same stories over and over again and now I find myself telling those same stories — “Mother used to tell this…..”
