Archery Bull’s eye bull.

I was about 10 when my brother and I saved up enough money to go to Caseville Summer Enrichment Program. W paid half and our parents paid half. It was a day camp that lasted most of the Summer. The big thing at the camp was drama and we were all in a production of Peter Pan at the end of the Summer. Ted and I were pirates. Bill Holdship may have been Captain Hook. Some guy from the city (Detroit) who was actually a professional actor and had appeared in several commercials, was Peter Pan. Lots of rich people from Detroit spent Summers in cottages in Caseville. It seems to me the star’s name was Mark Savage.

Anyway, drama was just part of the day. We had swimming, horseback riding (I think) and tennis. I believe Ted won a prize for tennis. He got very good at it, much better than me at least. We also had archery. They had an archery range and a set of animal targets in the woods next to the camp (which was actually set up in the Caseville school). So, the guy who was in charge of archery seemed like a nice guy. He had a problem. His arrows kept disappearing. I never lost any, but he told us that many arrows had been lost; so to get us to find them he promised to buy french fries at the camp snack place for anyone who brought in 5 arrows they found in the woods.
I took him up on it and looked long and hard for hours to find 5 arrows. But when I brought them in and gave them to him, he just laughed and said, I was probably the one who lost them in the first place.

It tells you something about me to know what I did. I waited a few days until no one would think about it and I went to the store room for the archery equipment. I got the bow and several arrows and made sure, dead sure that 5 of the arrows I took out never returned and would never be found.

I just hate being cheated. Hate it.

As much as I hate to say it, I probably would have done what you did.

What kind of jerk would do that to a KID. Geez! They were probably lost in the first place for a good reason.
