Skies

I’m in love.

They induced her about noon yesterday, after she stayed overnight in light labor.  We got to the hospital at about 7pm right after they broke her water and gave her an epidural.

There were a million people there, talking and laughing, I sat on the foot of her bed and tried to make her smile with small talk.  Grandmother, Mother, Father, Step-father, Step-mother, Sister, Brother, Best Friend, Baby’s Father, Baby’s Father’s Sister, and me.

They kicked us out around 1am, she delivered around 1:45am.  8 pounds, 2 ounces.

She is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

My boy held her, and she stared right at him with big, dark eyes.  She was so real, so tiny, so alive.  She has blonde eyelashes.

I held her.  She is a heavy, warm thing.  Part of me wants to hug her to my face and keep her forever.

"Would you like to be her Godparents?"

I cried and held my Godbaby.
