ouchie monday
busy weekend.
got half the yard mowed (er weed wracked as the part to my mower didn’t get in) cleaned the upstairs. kitchen, and can’t remember what all. my sinuses are still acting out, with accompanying headache. so blah. coco the snowshoe kitten is doing better-he is 7 months, and Saturday we noticed he was not his usual bouncy self. listless even. as Wendy had a hair appt, I took him to the small animal clinic run by her horse vet. I didn’t like the place and they kind of poo pood the illness. not real symptoms at that point other then a fever and low on fluids. so they gave me cat Med’s and sent me home. they DIDn’t give him a shot of liquid under the skin to re hydrate him, they DIDn’t give him a started shot of the Med’s, and they DIDn’t express any care or concern. all things I have come over the years to appreciate in small animal vets. it might just be a cat to you, but its my precious cat to me! anyhow he is a bit better now, still dragging though, but eating and drinking at least. and sleeping a lot, which if I were sick I would be the same. so hopefully he is on road to recovery.
I came on this am, to share my experience with a client whose mother was murdered in Mexico. the USA is not telling its people how often this occurs, people getting murdered in Mexico that is. this man, whose mother was an American citizen, (he and his bothers were raised in America -his mother may have been also, but his father came from Mexico) anyhow, his mother had been living in Mexico for some time. she was shot and killed, found in her car. he reported that the Mexican government told his brother and he that the cartels there are very active in kidnapping foreigner’s for ransom but they rape and murder them even if they get the money. and that that was what happened to his mother. but she must have fought back so they just killed her. he reports Mexico is a very dangerous place with NO law. or more specifically, that the law that exists is hand and hand with the drug cartels. (wonderful neighbors) So word of advice to you all–don’t travel there!
the other point on this, is we are, of course. working on grief issues, but the road bump there is that his religion, which he didn’t share the name of, tells him that its been 2 weeks, your mom is in heaven, get over it ! he says his family (also for the same religion) are the same. they tell him he is weak if he cries or expresses sadness over loss of his mother. –my reaction remains one of shock, great way to mess people up! deny the grief process! which by the by, is NOT a 2 week deal. I know the Jewish faith (I had a friend who lose her husband, who was Jewish) gives their grievers a year of constant hand holding with a celebration of some sort at end of it on the anniversary of the death.– now that is the way to deal with grief and keep your people health! Americans are so into , just go to work and move on, ignore your feelings. so I kind of get where this mans religion is coming from.. he says it is totally by the book, what is written and nothing else. anyhow, I spend time normalizing that grief is not gone in 2 weeks, or even a year, that you will always miss your loved one but eventually you work though the stages of loss–denial, anger, etc– I think he gets it and will turn out healthier in the end then the rest of his family.
ok. I’ve been dipping into to much early Monday morning sadness for most of you… just gearing up for my work day….
take care out there!
RYN: I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack. It was the class theme song for my niece’s graduation. Be well.

Wow, your little kitten needs a better vet, me thinks. Oy! So sad about the senseless murders, but if it is the same as in our country, it is mostly drug-related. People need money and kill the witnesses to the robbery. RYN: Thank you very much for the kind note. You are welcome to use the letter.Perhaps it will mean something to someone. Enjoy a great day!

I hope kitty gets better. And I am sad for his mom and sadder yet for the lack of support given. I have times that I think the year of wearing black and being in mourning needs to be revived.

Don’t you think though, that most religions have dogmatic views about one thing or another (or lots of things)! Allowing for individual variations is not one of their strong points usually. Hope puss comes good soon. Has she had her vaccinations?
