Update on stuff – 19 june
Hi folks,
Daughter is showing some signs of improvement – she’s been much more alert and perky and active the last few days. We have to set up some dr’s appts now since the various 24 hour test results (EKG and EEG) are apparently in.
Sweety and I met with daughter’s therapist yesterday to talk about our concerns, what our expectations should be, the therapist’s take on what’s going on, etc. One thing she said was that she agrees with me that daughter is definitely not in any shape to consider letting her go to Scotland for next school year (daughter was accepted into her university’s foreign study program to study at University of St Andrews for next school year). We probably need to make an official decision on that by mid July at the latest. I did raise the subject with daughter last nite and she didn’t seem upset at the prospect of not going, which is good and realistic. I don’t think she’d like being that far away from the ‘rents with this shit going on either.
Sweety and I also met yesterday with our business lawyer and started the discussion of "what kind of business entity do we want to be to accomplish our wellness center goals?". It was very good – over an hour. She’s gonna do some research for us, I will be doing some of our own too – opening conversations with the business development groups in the local counties. A couple of interesting things came up for me during the meeting…
One, I realized how excited I am about these prospects, and how bored with my current job (systems engineering) I am. I mean, I’m not in agony at work or anything, but it sure doesn’t do much for me anymore.
Second, and this was much more touching, there were several times during the meeting where Sweety came this close to referring to me as "Jude" as opposed to my guy name – just microscopic hesitations, but I noticed, and she confirmed — those last second switches of words in her flow. (And yes, I was in guy mode for this meeting – full time, public life is closer but not yet) I love you, my Sweet. Thank you.
Otherwise, things go on pretty much as normal. We’ve been getting pretty wicked thunderstorms popping up in the late afternoon these days. We’ve lost power a few times due to them – a couple of weeks ago, one of the storms took down like 2, 3 really big trees just up the street from us – one of them took out most of the roof over the corner room of one house. The folks have had to move out because the house is uninhabitable till it gets fixed. Oddly, haven’t seen repair work start yet.
well, that’s about it for now. time to refill the coffee mug.
take care, everyone. and thank you all for being there for me and for each other.
love,
Jude

You two are so beautiful together. It’s never easy getting through family stuff but it does sometimes bring us closer and requires that we grow to accept it (oh joy!) Love,

You’re an ex-catholic Congradulations! (My partner, K, is too). That’s very commendable. By the way… she LOLed at your comment on how I am suppose to act at the wedding….”anxiously expecting and happy”. She’s still chuckling as I write this. Trust me- it’s a stretch. (We have a well developed sense of humor.)

ryn: More flowers stuck in guns would be good. I’d hate to picture the state of education, healthcare and the economy, though!
