hmm…

October 16, 2008

I heard an advertisement for that the other day. I cannot tell you how much I hate exploitive and reality TV. First of all, you will never convince me it is reality. It’s all manipulated. It just makes my blood boil.

it’s going to piss a lot of people off, that’s for sure, but hopefully it’ll also educate a bit. here’s hoping!

After looking at the site, it seems to me they’re marketing it at some kind of freak show. Sigh.

ryn: no, no, not a bianchi, i wish! it’s an amf pursuit, totally old and rusted, and locked up somewhere with a lock with no key

There’s a hospital in Trinidad, Colorado, specializes in sex change operations……..

hmm. not sure if i could watch this. a lot of WE’s reality shows are very cruel to the people on them. I am not a big fan of reality tv.

Shouldn’t that be WET, Women’s Entertainment Television? But seriously, I find the less I know about what happens on TV the better. Take last night’s debate…

I detest being cynical, but this show sounds too good to be true. And by that i mean that i find it difficult to believe any network that doesn’t cater specifically to the LGBTQ community would actually host a show like this unless they wanted to exploit the people and dress it up like a civilized freak show. But who knows? Maybe it’s a decent program. Here’s to wishful thinking.

I saw a commercial for that. I don’t know what to think. David and I are considering watching it, just because we’re pretty much completely on the outside of the community. That, and we can’t find too much about the actual surgery process- just results. Hugs, John

I would be interested in watching it but I will have to wait and see it to comment.

new and shocking reality tv NOTHING I’d want to see

All I’ve got to say is, (and I haven’t yet heard about it or clicked on your link) the more exposure to the general public about the fact that there are a part of the population that considers themselves transgendered the better. I HATE the fact the many (if not most) people consider us a freak show. It boils my blood… but just getting the TG community out there and seen is a big deal at this point.

Is the “Show” yet another soapie ? We had a program in Autralia where the TS was played by a genuine woman Plenty of TSs here to play that part ? Or were not the TSs sexy enough ? Boring show overall Told very little about the life of a TSs Blessings

RYN.. Thanks for the note…. And I watched this show the other night. .I found it interesting… The one guy Jim, is from my town. I just like learning about different aspects of my community.

I hope the series is done well, so as to educate rather than to turn into some sort of freak show.

I don’t know whether or not you’ve come across this yet, but i thought you might find it interesting: http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/print/200811/transgender-children I might write an entry about it tonight or tomorrow.
