Turkey Day revisited

I started this entry yesterday…

I got an email at work that Alice printed out for me.  I plastered it on the front of the refridgerator just for yesterday’s gathering.  "Mom’s" talking to somebody in the family, saying:

"For once, we’re going to have a happy family get-together- – I’m stuffing the turkey with prozac."

Can anybody relate???    Kim thought it was funny and wanted the email.  Jimmie looked at it in denial, then ignored it.  Hmmm…wonder who it was meant for??

Actually, things went well yesterday.  Jimmie was Jimmie, inconsiderately walking into the house and turning on football. (ICK!!!!)  I let him know that i didn’t appreciate it, but when he started screaming about some "awesome" play, i told him that watching football was one thing, but i wouldn’t tolerate football screams.  And that was that.  And after football came golf.

I’m realllllly not used to surrending the remote for that many hours in a row– at least not since my independent days where i actually learned how to use it…

But all in all, i can’t complain a bit.  J started cooking Wed evening and continued Thurs morn.  I stayed outta his way!!  And when there was nothing but mess to clean up (Pssst!!  that’s the part i detest about cooking!!), j was in there helping and even ended up doing most of the dishes– and i was STILL up till 2 am finishing up dishes and wiping down icky countertops!

Yep, Banquet turkey dinners would’ve been fine by me…

Jordan, Chant and Bailey were all here.  And they’re definately three of the things i’m most thankful for!!

Kim and i did some talking, which is really the first time we have, face to face, and it was good.  I tried to reassure her that although i kiddingly speak of Ant, her ex, as my "best girlfriend", that she’s family…and since he’s the one that still lives in town, i think it’s awesome that he makes sure we get to see the kids when he has them because they’re my number one concern.  She agreed.  Living 400 miles away, i think she’s just sick of the rumor mill.  Aren’t we all!!

At the end of the day, Jimmie and Jordan had gone, Kim was getting a much needed nap, J was watching golf, so Bailey and i got on the computer and played a little game i’d picked up just for her.  It’s full of animation, songs, and silliness and she got to click the mouse a LOT so she was a happpppy girl, just giggling away!  For me, that was prob’ly the best part of the day!   At three, she’s definately a handful, but oh soooo much fun!!!  And…she’s a princess…just ask her!

It was very odd not to be with my folks and siblings and neices and nephews on Thanksgiving, since that’s been a family tradition for soooo long.  But, we had a special celebration last month, before my nephew was called to active duty.  God bless them all…it’s tough being so far away…

I hope everyone out there in OD land had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!  Blessed be!!!
