revenge will surely come
Alright, so this weekend has pretty much blown and I needed something to take my mind off it. Here’s my answers to some of life’s toughest questions. 😛
14. How is it possible, that with all the recent foul ups of both the Canadian and American governments, are the elected parties still in power?
There are a lot of reasons. A big reason is because the challengers are just as moronic as the incumbants. It becomes a choice of the lesser evils. I strongly believe the other reason is that those who are smart enough to actually do some good in politics are smart enough to stay the hell away from politics.
17. If public education, be it high school, community college or whatever, is supposed to teach people knowledge, and if were supposed to learn from that teaching; why does it spend more time teaching us specialization and less time teaching us thought or rather, how to think?
I could go on for hours about this, but I’ll be brief. Or rather I’ll try. In elementary school, you need to be taught that specialization. In high school, there should be a cross-over happening, from “here are facts” to “what do you think”? My best classes have been teachers who are like 3 year-olds, constantly asking “Why?” Cheating doesn’t work with them, because even if you have the “right answer” they’ll still push you farther. These teachers are usually disliked, because they challenge everything you once thought. They force kids to take their heads out of their butts and look at the world. They apply whatever subject they are teaching to my everyday life. They explain how knowing what happened during the Great Depression applies to our lives today. And it does. These teachers force you to stop memorizing facts and start thinking outside the box. They are tough teachers and rare in good form. But they are the ones who challenge us and push us onto greater things. But they are too rare in high schools and community colleges. These teachers are more easily found at Ivy League Colleges or in private think tanks.
I also think that “thought processes” can be taught in first grade. As opposed to making children memorize definitions of words, teach them how to read a sentence and figure out the meaning of the word. Instead of memorizing addition and subtraction tables, make them understand how to count and logically figure things out. I think children can be asked “Why” in elemntary school. That “scientific process” doesn’t really start until 6th grade and then only at a basic level and only applied to science. Asking kids “Why” and forcing them to explain themselves gives them an identity at a younger age. They will start thinking, “Why would I want to smoke? Just because my friends all do it? I know the harm it does and I don’t want to get sick. So, no. I’m not going to smoke.” That decision doesn’t come from Mom and Dad forbiding them to smoke or the school stopping them. That decision comes from themselves. I think the school’s job is to not only give kids the FACTS, but the TOOLS to use those facts.
Alright and I said this would be short, so I’ll leave stop now.
19. Is paranoia the same thing as believing in God?
Are hallucinating people seeing or hearing God or maybe Satan? There is a reference somewhere in the Bible (I can’t remember where) that human ears cannot hear God’s Voice because it is so mighty and powerful. We, as mere human beings, can not stand to look upon his face. Our bodies, our minds can not grasp such a concept yet. So perhaps those who are hearing voices or going insane, are actually hearing God or even Satan and his demons. Its slightly off the question, but it makes a point.
I remember learning about the Native American traditions and stories and being told that they made up those stories to explain things they couldn’t understand. The Ancient Greeks and Romans did the same thing with their gods and goddesses. So when we can’t understand something, do we always turn to religion? I think sometimes people do. Someone close to you dies at a young age, and you say it was their time or God called them home. You can’t deal with the pain and it doesn’t make sense what happened, so you “blame” God or this infinite power.
I don’t have the real answers. I am a Christian and I believe in God and Jesus, but I know that I can not prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus lived and died. I just believe. I can prove that my mother is my mother through blood samples and DNA tests. So anyone can look at those tests and agree, “Yes, she is your mother.” But I can’t prove that Jesus lived and died and rose again. And I suppose that I could be completely wrong and I’m looking at being reincarnated as a sea slug. For me, my religion and my faith provides comfort for me. There are things in it that do not make sense to me and I really struggle with that. For the most part, I’m very realistic and logical. And there are some things in the Christian faith that just don’t make sense. They don’t add up. I don’t know how the world got started; Big Bang Theory, Darwin’s Evolution or “God Just Went Click.” I wasn’t there and I can’t prove one theory or another. And I’m willing to admit that. I believe God created the universe. But I could be seriously wrong. People who aren’t willing to admit they could be wrong just annoy me. Darwin, the Big Bang Theory – they are theories, not proven fact. And people who say they don’t believe, they know – yet say that the Big Bang created earth, are just hypocrites. They believe in the Big Bang Theory.
Alright, thats all for me. I should get back to work or else I’ll get into the chaos theory and the butterfly effect…..

Ah, awesome answers. I didnt expect anyone to answer them, so thanks =) And I’m hurt that you’d even question who the favorite favorite is. You were the only one who went away =P

Sometimes I get lost in your emotional abilities, and I forget that you have some hardcore answers for “scientific” questions! Huzzah! I actually agree with you on all the points made. 🙂
