Mistake and Punishment

Questions circling in my head
Age-old instincts kicking into action
One mistake can change everything
But was it really a mistake
What scares me more
The mistake I don’t regret
Or the punishment I desire
Is there really love there?
Or is it only pain
I would do what I must
Terrified unbelieving
Rejecting everything I once stood for
I’ll take his gift
For thats what it is
And step forward
Meaning in a meaningless life
