Like a handprint on my heart

My last entry was dated July 24 and its now its August 15. I seriously thought I had written like a week ago, but I guess not. Time is not moving how it should, but I suppose that’s what happens when you start jumping the time zones.

Anyways – I am alive and reading and trying to keep up. Let’s see, California was August 5th to this past Sunday. This entire week is working during the day, running to rehearsals at night, unpack from CA, attempting to do laundry, repack for school, seeing off friends who are leaving for college, and doing a million other little things, like playing in church and sleeping. Hopefully, everything will work out in the end and my friends won’t think I hate them or are ignoring them. I really understand the phrase “hit the ground running” which is what I did on my return from CA. Its now Monday, or Tuesday or something and I’m overworked, underslept, and rather cranky. And they wonder why I’m snapping at people.

I’m also ending a relationship that has lasted for the better part of 2 years without really even trying. Its hard to walk away when things are going well and everyone is happy and comfortable. But I know there is heartache in the end, so why put myself through all that?

Michael, you will always hold a place in my heart so special nothing you do can change it. Because I knew you, I have been changed for good.

ELPHABA
I’m limited
Just look at me – I’m limited
And just look at you
You can do all I couldn’t do, Glinda
So now it’s up to you
For both of us – now it’s up to you…

GLINDA
I’ve heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don’t know if I believe that’s true
But I know I’m who I am today
Because I knew you

Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good

ELPHABA
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You’ll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend

Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
But because I knew you

GLINDA
Because I knew you

BOTH
I have been changed for good

ELPHABA
And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
For the thing I’ve done you blame me for

GLINDA
But then, I guess we know
There’s blame to share

BOTH
And none of it seems to matter anymore

GLINDA
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood

ELPHABA
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a bird in the wood

BOTH
Who can say if I’ve been
Changed for the better?
I do believe I have been
Changed for the better

GLINDA
And because I knew you…

ELPHABA
Because I knew you…

BOTH
Because I knew you…
I have been changed for good.

Good to see you’re doing well, and off to a running start. Ahh, the corny jokes. I’m sorry about the relationship, but if you think it’s best, then I support your decision anyway I can. 🙂 As for the no shoes driving, it’s based on my dad telling me mom that when the ABS kicks in, it’s got some harsh vibrations, and if you remove your foot instinctively, the kickback could cause some injury.

But once you know how your ABS handles and are used to it, I don’t see any reason to drive with shoes if you don’t want to. And you’re right, driving in heels would be sexy, but very impractical. Besides, if the cop can’t see your bare feet, how can anyone else see you in heels, right? 🙂 I’m glad you updated, I didn’t realize how much I missed you until I saw your notes. Welcome back to NY! 🙂

There’s so little time left before you go to school. I really hope I get to see you. I’m off tomorrow… then I’m working pretty much until Monday when my next day off is. On Thursday I’m working 6-3 so I’ll be available after that. Things are things. My house sister is in labor right now which is very exciting. I want to tell you all about it. Love you Katiekins. Nitta
