define pain

broken promises and pop songs
of lost loves and broken hearts
can’t begin to decribe pain
its an ache inside my foot
there’s anguish costing me my sanity
its the discomfort of a fishhook in my heel
the distress that it will never heal
a headache that makes the world swirl
nothing has ever hurt like this
an irritanting constant reminder
of the misery i can’t escape
this sorrow stings like a spider bite
and the torment i’m fighting off
leaves me scarred with wounds
no one can see or heal
i’m just searching for a word
to make them all understand
the true meaning of pain
