Balance

I’ve been thinking back on some of my favorite couples – from movies, TV, literature, plays, you name it.  Why were they favorites of mine?

There is a balance.  Their intellects are matched, but different.  Their strengths and weaknesses are not identical, but neither are they exact opposites.  Somehow they balance.  Anger tempered by reason.  Brute strength balanced with smarts.  Except that each person has all four of those qualities.  Alone, they stand complete.  They are whole persons in their own rights.  Together, they are more than one.  Which is redundant and simple.

But aren’t the simplest thing also the truest?
