November 1st
Not too much happened. I was a little sad that halloween was over and I could no longer wear my halloween costume to work.
One of the girls that works in the chef service area has been acting differently towards me since then. We were both so excited to see each other in a costume, glad we weren’t the only ones lol. We actually hugged when we saw each other, it was really funny.
Because at work, I act very differently. Very professional and bossy. Especially with her. So its been nice.
Our reciever just recently lost his 20 year old son. He was beginning a methadone treatment for his heroine addiction. Basically, the government screwed up, didn’t follow procedures, and he is dead due to an overdose.
anyhow, the reciever has got to be one of the nicest people I know. Always looking out for everyone else, working hard, smiling, joking, enjoying life.
So when I heard about his son nearly a month ago now (I knew his son had a problem leading up to his death), I was SO upset. As was everyone. Such awful things shouldn’t happen to such good people.
I also happen to know that the reciever has financial troubles. We were talking about how chilly its getting, and unloading some stuff, and he was telling me about his work gloves that had gone missing. He got what looking like a dollar store pair of cotton/nylon gloves. You know the ones…
He said one of the truck drivers had given them to him. Hw said “geez, people just keep giving me stuff, they must feel sorry for me or somethin’!” And laughed. I told him it was because he’s such a nice guy.
he took them off to show me the holes in them, and I noticed how dry and cracked his hands were, they were so bad they were bleeding in places. When I commented he said “yeah, they don’t usually get bad until it gets colder, I’ve got to get some cream”
this resulted in some advice and further discussion, etc.
So last night I drove to the hardware store, picked up 2 pair of the type of gloves that had gone missing, and then to the drug store to get him some really good hand cream.
Excited to see what he thinks…
