Drifter
This week was a lot of work. We cleaned up a clear cut area. It’s a high maintenance area so that means that we have to work super hard! lol
I had a good time, I guess. I like my job. We put all kinda of twigs, logs, needles, etc all in garbage cans, weighed them and then dumped them into big slash piles. It was tough because it was pretty heavy. It was a good workout tho I guess.
I found a cat while I was gone too. He was all black, and not yet a year old. He was super skinny and he looked like he was starving to death. I bought some food at the corner store and I was feeding it to him, he gobbled it down like it was his last meal. He was so tiny! He just broke my heart!
Then he didn’t leave our porch for probably about 10 hours. I sat out there with him for probably about 6 of them. I read my book while he sat in my lap. He was so sweet! I haven’t met a cat like that since I was 8. Way back when Toby was our cat…I check him all over. I checked his gums to make sure he was ok, he even let me check in his crotch area for fleas…and I know it’s gross, but I checked to see if he was neutered. It was like he understood that I was just trying to help him. He let me pick scabs off his tiny little body…omg…what an angel!
He understood perfectly well that he wasn’t allowed in the house because Eric is allergic to cats. That really bothered me. I brought him out a box with a towel in it for him to sleep in because it was cold outside. His pupils dilated…it was like he totally understood what I expected of him. It was like he was saying to me, "you expect me to sleep in a fricken box?! I can’t live like that, what are you smokin?" It was just too cute…but I also think that’s why he wasn’t there the next morning. He didn’t come back the rest of the week. I wanted to take him to the Thunder Bay humane society, but I couldn’t if he was gone. I just pray to god that he’s doing ok out there…I fell in love…lesson learned: never name a pet something that means that he will run away. Because they always will. Next time I hope to see Drifter again!
