Alcoholism
I told him I was done and couldn’t do it anymore. I told him I’m moving out. I told him he needs to find a way to fix his drinking problem, because I’m just enabling and excusing his behaviour by staying. I told him his putdowns were unacceptable and its time for him to man up and deal with his drinking. He kept saying over and over that it was just one night out of how many that he screwed up. I said yup, ur right it is. But we already know that this is the problem. He said he never meant to have so many drinks last night he was just going to have one or two. I said I know Rob! You never mean to have that many, you have an illness and you need to take responsibility for it! Because I can’t handle waiting for him to come home all night, its completely unfair and I don’t want to live like that anymore. I said by me threatening to leave and not doing it, isn’t helping. He was like “that’s because I didn’t think you would ctually go” I said “and that’s exactly why I need to leave”.
good for you! I did the same thing with my ex, and that was 6 years ago… I’ve never looked back.=D Good luck & be strong!

Wow, way to go girl!! I’m so happy for you!! I know it’s hard and it sucks and you love him but you are taking a huge, HUGE step here. Just stick with it and I promise it will pay off! Maybe this will be what he needs to get his life together. Just be patient, strong, and persevere through this. My sister has been saying bye to her alcoholic bf for 21 years and still goes back. You can do better:)

yeah, but the truth is, you need to leave and get on your own anyway. You can’t change your life to “fix” his. He’s gotta do it on his own and he’ll just manipulate you as if you’re the excuse why he can’t stop drinking. I’ve seen it over and over.
