Without a Trace
I heard some very interesting news today. It seems that a few inmates had just been killed in a mysterious fashion. What makes it mysterious is that usually, when an inmate dies, and it happens sometimes, the wardens are quick to gather up the bodies and dispose of them. I’d be willing to bet they’re creamated. To these poor inmates, this did not happen. Instead, we woke up in the morning to find two completely fresh graves in the middle of the recreation field, complete with a tomb stone on each grave. One tombstone read "First", and the other read "Second".
After a day of curiosity another inmate finally figured out who it was that was killed. A pair of inmates named Boris and Peter. Poor guys. The thing is, no one can figure out where the battle took place. A few of the things in their room are out of place, but aside from that, their rooms are spotless. No blood, no battle marks, nothing. I wonder if they staged their own deaths? But why?
Most of my friends don’t seem particularly interested in this happening. They tend not to care what happens to the other inmates. They’ve got the people they want to protect, let the rest fend for themselves. Sir Nuttor is mildly interested in how things turn out, and I think Saki, who’s been itching for a fight recently, is intrigued by the apparent skill of the killer. Aside from that though, well… This place desensitizes you, you know?
I’m not going to visit their graves. I find it very odd that we most often mark where a person’s corpse lies, but rarely mark where that person did anything in life. It seems rather morbid. Why mourn over an empty shell when you can mourn where that person held the most sway? Honestly, that’s not my decision to say. Two people can two justified yet clashing opinions, and I think this is one of them.
I’d like to see someone try to justify no water, though. Bring it.
This place … desensitizes us, indeed.
