Rooftop Wrestler
So I still couldn’t shake this feeling I get when I think about Jonas’ actions, so I decided to do something different. I went up the stairs. More accurately, I used the stairs to get to floors that I had not been to before.
I know this sounds odd, but it was something so simple that I had not done before since I arrived here. So I got to my floor after breakfast, and kept climbing. I got all the way to the top floor and found a door. I tried it and it was locked. Well that was fun.
So I went back down the stairs, visiting each floor as I went. I met some people I knew, we chatted, and I continued on my quest to visit every floor. Eventually I finished. It was fun.
But I wasn’t satisfied. So I went to the next building, and started visiting the floors. This time, I started from the bottom and worked my way up. I met more people, saw new hallways. I started noticing that some of the hallways were actually decorated by their denizens. I also noticed that most of them otherwise looked exactly alike. It felt like a dorm.
Once I got to the top of that building I checked the door at the very end of the stairwell. It was locked. Well that was fun.
But this doorway was a little different. It was a different kind of door. Made of the same material, but it’s simple pattern was etched with triangles instead of squares. So I went back down the stairs and visited the next building. I skipped the floors and went to the top. This door had circles. Fascinating! The next building had pentagons. Both were locked.
This was nice, I was all alone just exploring. There’s a certain thrill in exploring alone. There’s a feeling that you don’t get when others are exploring with you. You feel less safe but more independant. You feel a sense of exhiliration that isn’t always magnified by the presense of another person, because you reflect less inwardly when others are around. This was fun.
So I visited another building, and this one was different. I got to the top floor and saw the door with triangles and rectangles and turned the handle. It was unlocked! I pushed the door expecting your typical style rooftop. A flat surface with a lot of white rocks on the ground with a few weird gadgets sticking out and view of the cold winter sky above. Instead what I found was amazing. Just absolutely breathtaking.
Tomato plants. Almost the entire rooftop was tomato plants. The ground was soil, and there were stakes shoved down into it, and growing up the stakes were tons of tomato plants. Instead of feeling the chill of a winter rooftop, I found myself in a greenhouse. In fact, as I looked around I noticed that all the buildings had greenhouses. It was invisible from the ground due to the greenhouse being slightly smaller than the roof we were on, and the roof of the greenhouse also slanting to a point. How long have I been here? How had I not noticed this? Who else knew? My list of questions began to grow as I plucked a tomato from a vine and took a large bite. I glanced to my left and saw a door to the greenhouse. I might have approached it, if it weren’t for a large… very large man outside the door.
"Hey!" He shouted, "Get out of my greenhouse!" Then he saw the partially eaten tomatoe in my hand. That’s when he flew into the scariest rage I have ever seen a giant man fly into. He threw open the door and charged at me. His speed was incredible. I dropped the tomatoe and sprinted back through the door. I ran down the stairs, but in the back of my head I knew that if he continued to run at that pace, he would have me in moments. I was a couple stories down when I heard him from above shout, "You’ll pay for that! You’ll rue the day you ate my tomato…"
At that point I was already far enough down the stairs that I could no longer hear him. Apparently he either slowed down, or he let me get away to avoid a physical conflict. I’m betting it was the second one.
It was a tasty tomato. Very well raised if I do say myself. It was incredibly juicy. They say many animals get their water solely from the food they eat. If they had tomatoes like that I wouldn’t dare doubt it. I, on the other hand, didn’t get to finish the tomato, so I’m instead going to supplement the tomato with water.

Oh, there’s no joy greater than a tasty tomato. Except maybe some tasty chocolate or lobster. But a tasty chocolate lobster is going too far, so it’s NOT better than a tasty tomato.
