~1st entry’s Explanation -3

Your Sweet innocent Looking Eyes; -I have a Picture of those eyes they way they looked so innocent. Whenever he did something bad, I melted to those eyes. I think I tended to discipline him less cause of those Eyes. Or I tended to give in to those Eyes more than his Sister. Course she learned very quickly that the way to get things was to have Nathan ask. When Sarah was about 8 she pointed this out to me that I always said, “Yes” to Nathan, and not always “Yes” to her. From that day forth I had to break myself of that. I just hadn’t seen what I had been doing.

Getting Your 1st 4 Teeth at 3 Months; -Sarah got teeth at 7 months, so I was SHOCKED when Nathan got his first 4 teeth (almost at the same time) at 3 months! And then they just kept coming in at that point. Also maybe he was a crying little thing before that cause he was teething and I never knew it.

Very, very Sensitive; -Nathan was incredibly Sensitive to anything Scolding. He cried at the drop of a hat. We rarely spanked him, cause just a scolding got the message through to him. He was very sensitive to the word “NO”. If we were to tell him “No” when he was about to touch something, he would cry right then. In any form that we used the word “NO” he would cry. Or if when explaining something serious to him we couldn’t look mad, or disappointed etc, of he would cry. There were times when we had to say “No” that we did it with a Smile on our face Cheerfully! He eventually stopped being that incredibly Sensitive about age 4, but he was still Sensitive up till he died. If ya raised your voice to him, he was crushed. His Sister on the other hand when she was younger was strong Willed, then she mellowed and she cried too when a Voice raised to her.

“Do you have Panties?”; -Nathan was about 3. He still wore Diapers at night and when he took naps. But this one night before bed, Nathan asked, “Do you have Panties?” I thought he was asking me if I had Underware for him for bed, and so I said, “No”, cause I was planning to put a diaper on him for the night. He thought about that a bit and then said, “Well then, What Do YOU Have on YOUR Bottom???” I laughed and quickly assured him I had on Panties. Later on I overheard him talking to Da-lee (daddy) about how, “Mama has a Diaper on.” LOL

Your First Snow; -Nathan’s first snow was in England. It was Sarah’s first too. They loved it but we weren’t really equipped for Snow. We didn’t own any Gloves/Snowboots, etc. So we really couldn’t stay out there long.

“And Suddenly!”; -This is another Sesame Street Phase. I think The Count said it.

“Sorry Titter!”; -Oh Nathan was always Sorry… He’d Hit Sarah, then immediately say “Sorry Titter”. As if that made his hitting her all better.

England; -We were Stationed at RAF Fairford from 1986 to 1989. Living in Little Rissington, England. In the Mist of the Cotswolds. A very Picture Postcard area. Breath Takening! Little Rissington was about 20 miles west of Oxford. It was a very small Village. We were out in the Country. From looking out the Upstairs Window often you could see a sea of Sheep or Cattle in the field close by. We were 2 miles from Bourton-on-the Water. That was Quaint little Village. Cool little shops. A little stream ran through it and Ducks lived there. We would go there to feed the Ducks. As I said earlier we were 22 miles from RAF Fairford and we usually took the back roads to get to the Base, which went through many little Villages, and Beautiful Country Side. Many a times would come upon a Fox Hunt about to start, and there would be a Sea of Hound Dogs and People dressed in Black and Red on their Horses. Or when we drove around the hours of Tea Time, people would be stopped off to the side of the road, having their Tea. England was quite the Experience for us all. I’d like to go back there. Take Sarah. She was just 6 when we moved back to the States.

“What a Lovely Day!”; -In England, The Phrase, “Lovely Day” is used a lot. It was October 1987. We had family from the States visiting and we were Site Seeing. We were on a Double Decker Tour Bus in Strafford-on-Avon in Shakespeare Country. We were on the Top viewing the sites and it started to Sprinkle then suddenly, Pour! SO Typical for England! The Bus Stopped so we could come to the Bottom. As we all we walking down the spiral stairs, Nathan who was just 3, said, “What a Lovely Day!” We all started Laughing! Yep it was quite the “Lovely Day”

Playing in the Sand Box; -As a kid I had a sand box which eventually a Tool Shed was built over it. But I had fun in that huge Sand Box. So In California, I bought a little Wadding Pool to fill with Sand for Sarah to play in. (Nathan was too little at the time). Then when we moved to England I bought another Wadding Pool, the following year we bought a Rectangle Wadding Pool and that was more room for Sarah and Nathan to play in the Sand. When we lived in Colorado there was a already Built-in Sand Box in the Backyard. Plus the Soil was sandy anyway. The kids always had a lot of fun playing in the Sand. Spending Hours having Fun. Age 2-4

Cookie Monster Cake; -My Grandma always made the kid’s Birthday Cakes. She was a Cake decorator. But this was the 1st Birthday to come about after we moved to England that she couldn’t make a cake for us, So I bought a Cookie Monster Pan and tried my hand at decorating it. Age 2

9.5 pounds at Birth; -Nathan was 9.5 pounds. My Gosh That was the most painful birth of my two kids. He never wore newborn Clothes. My husband couldn’t get over the size of his Hands. I called him a “Whooper!”

🙂

Thank you so much for all the great notes. It was as fun reading them as reading the diaries. I’ve read a few of your entries but I’ll go back and read the whole diary when I have a few minutes – maybe over this coming weekend.

Do you remember how the icing turned their tongues and lips blue? It really made for cute pictures. I still have my pan. I just can’t stand to part with it.:)
