~1st entry’s Explanation -1

”Nah-Nah-Nah”; -Nathan would stand in his crib rocking back and forth with his Blanket in his hand. His forefinger would be wrapped around the blanket and close to his nose while his thumb of that same hand would be in his mouth. And he’d be saying Nah, nah, nah! Over and Over. I even got it on Video. Age 2

“Don’t Wanna go Nite Nite, Golly Scram!”; -He learned “Don’t Wanna” and “Golly Scram” from Oscar the Grouch on Sesame Street. While standing is his crib he’d point at us and say this. It was so cute! Age 2

Torturing Bugs leg by leg; When he was about 2 till ? he had an interest in Bugs. But his first interests were just torturing them. We were living in England and who knew what really some of those bugs were. He’d find a Spider in the house and take it’s legs off. Drove me CRAZY!

Big Wheel; Nathan and his Sister had Big Wheels and they rode them down this strip of concrete in the Backyard when we lived in England. Then drag them back up to go down again. Doing that was quite popular with the neighborhood kids. I got this on Video. Age 2-4

“I, I, I Can’t Do It!”; Oh I got this on Video & Cassette Tape. He sounds soooo Cute! I recall this one time he climbed over the Sewing Machine Case that was up against an open Door. He then wanted back over. He said he couldn’t do it. I told him he could. He stuttered his “I’s” and over and over he’d say in a whiney voice, “I, I, I Can’t Do It!”. I knew he could and I wanted him to see that he could so I kept encouraging him. Finally he did it and he was so surprised and happy that he did it!

Shaving Your Bugies with the Plug in of the Joy Stick; -The End of the Joy Stick that you plug into the Computer some how made Nathan think of it as a Razor. And he’d *Shave* with it. We’d ask him if he was shaving his Bugies, since stubs on a man’s face look like little Bugs. Or he’d come up to us and say he was Shaving his Bugies. I Have this on Video. Age 2-3

Eating Everything-Buttons, Stuffed Animals, Plants, Lot of Food; -He put everything into his month. I could not allow him to have Stuffed Animals like in his Crib cause he’d chew on them. (His sister had stuffed animals in her Crib as 6 months with no problems). And when he played with the Stuffed animals I had to watch he didn’t try to bit the nose off or something. I couldn’t put any clothes on him that had buttons (till he was about 2) cause he would try to bite them off. I had to watch him close in the backyard, cause he’d eat the plants and it didn’t help when his sister one time said, “Nathan, it’s lettuce, eat it.” He also loved food to an extreme. It’s said a Kid will stop eating when they are full, well NOT Nathan. He would eat till he was sick! We had to decide when he had enough. If he heard anyone in the kitchen getting into a bag or box he would come a running for some. We had to sneak our treats for ourselves. 18 months-3 y/o

Your Thumb & Blanket; -His Thumb and Blanket were quite an Item till he finally lost the Blanket when he was in the 1st grade. I found it about a month later and decided he had lived a month without it, he didn’t need it. The Thumb… Well I don’t know if he had stopped by age 12 or not. At this point the only time he did it was in his sleep if at all. I’d have to ask his sister if he still sucked his thumb. When he was under the age of 5 he’d suck his thumb till it cracked open. I’d have to put a Band-Aid on it and he’d suck the other one till the right one was healed.

Sesame Street; -Before we moved to England I finally broke down and bought a VCR so I could record Sesame Street. We didn’t think we would ever have a British TV, so I recorded 48 hours of Sesame Street to watch on out American TV. Plus I wasn’t sure if Sesame Street would even be on over there. We all saw those 48 hours Over and Over and Over. We all knew all the songs. Then eventually we rented a British TV, and it did get Sesame Street, plus a whole lot of cool other Kiddy Shows.

Playing Billy Goats Gruff; -In England we lived in a Town called Little Rissingtion. Our Basehousing was there (22 miles from the actually Base of RAF Fairford). IN our Basehousing we had an Elementary School, a Fire Station, a Gas Station, A Teen Community Center, A Foodland (like a very small 7-11), a small Air Strip, a hug Fenced in Play Ground and a lot of other Buildings that I have no clue what they were about.

On the walk to the Foodland which was about ¼ mile, we walked across this huge grassy area. On the way there was this slab of concrete. (I have no idea why it was just there). But we used that as the Bridge in play acting Billy Goats Gruff. Sarah who was 3-5 and Nathan who was 2-4. We’d take turns being the Troll. In a Gruff Voice….. “Who’s that Trip Trapping over my bridge?” and one of us would say in a tiny voice, “It’s only me the Middle Billy Goat Gruff, or It’s only me the Littlest Billy Goat Gruff”. Almost every time we went to the Foodland we’d Playact this out. It was fun.

Sweet memories! RYN: Ouch! A scorpion in your bed? I think I would have slept the rest of the night on the ceiling! The vet gave me a bottle of ear cleaning solution, so I’m going to clean Riley’s ears once a week with it. He’s feeling sooo much better since I’ve been using the ointment. Thanks for all your notes!
