Day 8…some drama at Lucern..
My day started out quite well with an early morning stroll to the railway station, just to check that my e-ticket was ok and didn’t require any more paperwork. All good, just get on the train the guy said. SO then I treated myself to a leisurely breakfast at an upmarket hotel/cafe….buffet style. And what do I do?? I overeat! Slow walk uphill back to Hotel, had a couple of hours til checkout, so came on here, did a couple of forward bookings and checked out at 11 and walked down to the station again. waited on Platform six with other people going to Lucern, but when 11.35 came and still no train, people started hurrying to another platform, as the platform number was wrong on the big screen. Frantic dash to platform 1, just hopped on board and pleasant trip to Lucern. What a beautiful sight, centuries old buildings along the shores of the lake, set in a backdrop of mountains…reminded me of Queenstown only more spectacular. Had a couple of hours to kill so I bought myself a cold drink and waited by the lake. I wandered over to my hotel at 3 pm, only to be told that they had offloaded me because a big group was coming in…and there definitely isn’t a room for me now, but……they have booked me in to a similar hotel just across the river and nearer to town. OK I said, do they know I’m coming? They do, so I wandered back across the river……but….nobody on reception, nobody anywhere…I waited nearly an hour and then went back and got angry. I left my bags with them, telling them I needed to make my evening appointment and would be back at 10 pm when one of their hotels would give me a room. Went out looking for food again! Mind you I hadn’t had any lunch…and then thought about it and decided to book into another hotel. I went back and collected my bags and on the way back to my new hotel, met the 2 guys from the original hotel, and I told them that I had found another hotel, and that the service was just too bad, not their fault guys, but sorry, the service was just too bad.
Oh, they said, we’ve just come back from a third hotel where we have booked you into for the night. Oh sorry about that said I, I’m staying elsewhere…have a good life….
If any charge comes through on my credit card statement, I will not pay it, I will ask the bank to reverse it. See, dishonesty doesn’t pay. They cancelled me, and I gave them some extras. A lot of extra work.. Eat your heart out, hotel Liebersomethin…..
Headed off to the athletics ground, and watched some top class performers, including our very own Valerie Adams…I think she won the shot putt, not sure as they didn’t announce the results before I left. Boy those sprinters can move….and I was also watching closely the women’s pole vault.
Im sorry I am only spending one night here, I might come back in September…just to appreciate the beauty here…
Sorry you had to put up with all of that! And you are so organized and efficient when it comes to making sure everything is in place. I wish more people, especially service people, were like that! Hope tomorrow is better!

Mercury retrograde screws with travel, luckily it will be over by Monday. That will be silly reason behind the train and hotel! Hope you’re feeling better.
