Working

This is the first time I’ve been able to sit in front of a computer long enough to write an entry. Working two jobs has been cool so far. I started working for Domino’s three weeks ago, and I have no complaints so far. I’m mainly working there on the weekends while still working at Sears during the week. I do have to go to Sears tomorrow to iron out my schedule. According to my manager, the computer takes into account everyone’s availability and productivity to make the schedule. If an associate is a top seller, he/she will be given the peak hours during the weekends, for instance. The only thing each supervisor can do is edit the schedule.

I actually don’t mind the busy schedule. I usually work for Sears from 11-4ish, make it home to eat and shower, and then head out to deliver pizzas for a couple of hours. I make decent tips. The most I’ve made in a night is $58. I can still make at least $20 a night if we’re slow.

Since I work two jobs, I won’t have as much time to hang out or make plans like I used to. I’ve already been approved vacation time for the upcoming Myrtle Beach trip, though.

I went to see The Dark Knight Rises after work Friday. The movie was good until it was interrupted by a power surge knocking out all the projectors. At first, we all thought it was part of a scene, but we were all told we would receive a free pass to any movie in the next calendar year. There were many people who were angry, and I felt sorry for one of the staffers. So, I was only able to see half of the movie…lol.

Thankfully, I saw the movie yesterday with no problem.

Aerial is about to turn 15 in a month. She’s already getting an iphone for her birthday from her parents. I’m not sure what to give a 15-year-old teenager heh. I might bake her a cake or take her out somewhere *shrugs*.

Even though I’ve had the traveling bug the past year, I have not been to downtown Atlanta in over a year I think. Driving to the airport doesn’t count because it is 10 miles south of downtown. I don’t even remember the last time I spent the day in downtown just taking int he sights and sounds. I really need a getaway day to my birthtown.

I’m still annoyed roundtrip tickets to Chicago is around $280. I want those tickets to fall around $180 heh.

I also ran into an old family friend while at Domino’s. She knew me more than I knew her. Her family lived a couple of doors down from our old home. I asked her how things were at our old house, and she said the house is in good hands. A family is renting the place and keeping it in good shape.

I spent one night just remembering all the good times I had at the old place. I remember bringing my first girlfriend home and having her spend the night. I remember learning how to drive a car from the driveway to the entrance of the neighborhood. I learned how to ride a bike and being able to spend the day home alone.

What else is funny is how excited I felt when we first got dial-up while I was in high school. We had AOL at the time, and I remember convincing my dad to let me use the internet. I always hated when my mom would be on the phone. She’d always knock me off the internet, so my dad finally got a second line :-). For years, we couldn’t get DSL though. Bellsouth ran a line directly across the street from our neighborhood, but they never ran one down our street.

I was ecstatic when we were finally able to get DSL. And how could I forget? Before DirecTV and Dish, people could get the big satellites installed in their yards. These satellites would actually turn and align themselves with the satellites in space when you changed the tuner accordingly.

Anyway, I really dislike my piece of junk desktop. I’ve had it since 2008, and it’s served me rather well. Unfortunately, the front USB panels no longer work, and for some reason, it won’t recognize a USB keyboard. I can only use a PS/2 keyboard, and the cord length is extremely short. Therefore, I have to sit right up under the tv just to use the keyboard. It’s a strain on the eyes on my butt.

Well, I’m going to end this entry and head on to bed.

Jenn and Monika, I haven’t forgotten about you all, but I plan on catching up with you shortly.

Heh~ the first thing that came to my mind was… thank God your Batman movie was interrupted by a power surge and not by a crazed man who barged in, shooting everyone in sight. I hope those people who were angry and giving the staff a hard time feel bad for making such a fuss when they realize that they could have been shot if they were in Colorado, and never come out of the movie alive. But sadly, some people are so self-absorbed that they will hear about the shooting and still be upset that their movie was interrupted by a power surge. We all need to start realizing what is important in life and what is not… (talking to myself here too). Okay that sentence you wrote – “It’s a strain on the eyes on my butt” – LOL. I didn’t know you had eyes on your butt. LOL. That’s interesting, hahahaha.
