One Less Uncle

Today was spent on the road basically. I went to bed around 2 a.m. expecting to sleep until about 10 or somewhere in that area. I didn’t really have any plans or anything for the day. Anywho, around 9, my mom opens my door and tells me we’re going to Augusta (Augusta is only like an hour 20 minutes from here). I got up, but everything I did was hurried. My mom should have woke me up around 8:30 if she was in a hurry instead of waiting until 9 and getting upset about my taking my time.

Anywho, when she said that we were all going, I figured everyone except Darryl was going. Much to my dismay, I saw that my dad wasn’t going. Ah well.

We headed up to Atlanta to get money out of a bank before we got something to eat. We decided to eat IHOP. As soon as we were pulling into the parking lot, this girl who was driving this truck was trying to back out of it. My sister noted that she was probably doing her first lesson. Anywho, as I went into the restaurant, I noticed it was crowded, but unlike Red Lobster, it didn’t take too long for us to get seated. When we were situated, my mom was undecided–as usual–Aerial was upset because she didn’t have a crayon, and Amber didn’t want to sit in the booster seat. I decided on ordering the fruit pancakes with bacon on the side. For the fruit, I ordered strawberries *yum*. It didn’t take too long for our food to arrive, and boy I tore up into those pancakes *smiles*.

After that, we headed to my aunt Claire’s apartment in Lithonia. I knew what we were going to have to do: we would have to drive an extra forty minutes past our exit to drop her off. So that would mean that instead of an hour and 10 minute drive, we would have to drive nearly 2 hours to drop her off. More on that later.

After we picked her up, I kicked off my sandals and lounged around in the back of the Suburban with socks on. I was also sharing the back with Amber’s car seat. Anyway, as soon as I finished reading my book, we arrived in Augusta, GA.

When we arrived, we just lounged around her house and spent about a good four hours there. My sister, my mom, aunt dean, her husband, aerial and amber all indulged in fish. I’m not a seafood fan so I just ate two hushpuppies. I also got the chance to see the Atlanta Braves in action (and they won! hehe). Around 5:50, we decided to head back home.

The purpose of the trip was to go to the Burlington Coats Outlet but my sister couldn’t figure out a way to get there. Anywho, we arrived back in Covington to buy some inexpensive gifts for my cousin’s son, his name is Jashun.

We stopped at Big Lots and found two $0.99 toys but my sister bought up a good point: a toy is just a toy. Toys don’t have to be expensive or anything of that nature. I also saw an old classmate of mine. She’s heading to Columbia State soon. Then, we went to my cousin’s house to attend the small birthday party.

I ate a hamburger, hotdog, and some ice cream. This is the strange thing…I’ll only eat hot dogs of the grill. Anywho, I had hoped one of my cousins would take aunt claire and uncle sonny back (they both live together now) but, we had to take BOTH of them home. I don’t mind Aunt Claire, but Uncle Sonny is…

He’s the kind of guy that holds grudges, is jealous, drinks, and smoke cigarettes. Everytime he comes into our Suburban, my mom has to warn him to not smoke. I have heard he’s been on the downside since his parents died. He loves to bring down people and have people feel sorry for him and give him money. From what I heard, he had $7,000 and let it slip betwen his fingers. On to tonight…

In the Suburban, we had these people: my mom, aerial, amber, aunt claire, uncle sonny, my sister and we were about to include my cousin bridgette in here as well. So my mom, amber and I shared the backseat. Throughout the whole ride up to Lithonia, Uncle Sonny would ramble incoherent stuff in response to what was going on. He really doesn’t like my mom because of where she is in life as opposed to him. I also heard that he caused one of my aunts to have to pay the IRS for stuff. Then, I heard he was talking bad about aunt claire and her late husband.

Practically, everyone has lost all respect for him. Right now, I don’t consider him my uncle because he does nothing but try to bring people down. I have two “real” uncles: uncle Simon (he had to pay stuff to the IRS b/c of uncle sonny), and uncle Albert (we visited him and his wife today). I have two other uncles–technically three–but I don’t feel connected to them at all.

I got home around 10:35 pm.

Anyway, that was my day. How was yours?

I have a problem similar to that. My Mom was the only girl out of 6 kids. I have never met my Uncle Bob, he lives far away, west coast. and I just met my Uncle Tony about a year ago, he’s very neat. My Uncle Jimmy, sigh. he is a drunken drug abuser, we have disowned him. My uncle Larry.. mom doesn’t like his wife, so we haven’t spoken in years. and Uncle Bill, he’s just a tad wacky.. sigh.

I’m kind of in a situation like yours. I have disowned all my Aunties and Uncles on my Dad’s side of the family, they’ve benn terrible to him and betrayed my family. Mmmm, IHOP! I want to be in America now *sobs*
