Money
Saturday was a busy day. My dad’s cousin had passed away last Monday, and her funeral would be held in Charlotte last Saturday. My sister and I were talking about the trip all week long. We decided we would drive up there for the day in two vehicles. Jocelyn, my mom, my nieces, four of my cousins, and my aunt and uncle all went. I got up around a quarter to 5 to take Chip out before we left. My sister told us to be at the Super Wal-Mart by 6:30.
Why is it when someone begs you to meet them at a certain time, they are the ones who are always late?
Anyway, my sister finally showed up around 7:15ish. We hopped into her vehicle and heading on over to my aunt’s house. After we picked them up, we drove to my cousin’s house. My cousin and uncle wanted to ride with them, so that left my family+my aunt. We made our way to Charlotte around noon. The funeral wasn’t until 1, so we had a chance to see the body before the family arrived at the church.
The funeral was…weird. The MC kept trying to hurry everyone along, and apparently, there’s a law in Charlotte where you have to be at the grave site at the designated time. That’s not even the strangest thing.
At the reception, we were all seated and served baked or fried chicken, string beans, rice with some sort of gravy and biscuits. The servers just handed us our plates. Many people were disappointed with the way things were handled.
Anyway, we mingled with the family and headed for home. We made it back around 10:30.
On to what my entry title is about.
Trey’s like a brother to me. I’ve known him for over 13 years, but lately, he’s been getting on my nerves. He’s always complaining that he’s broke, no one wants to hire him, and he’s not who he wants to be.
He’s dated his current girlfriend for almost 2 years I believe. He practically lives with her now, but he doesn’t have to pay anything really. She has two kids, works full-time at Wells Fargo, pays the mortgage, utilities and other bills, and has to provide food for everyone. He’s rarely had money for her birthdays, Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day. She’s talked to me several times about his lack of finances. According to her, he doesn’t even have money to take her out and get her a drink.
One time, they went out to lunch together at a Chinese restaurant. When it came time to pay the ticket, he looked at her like she was going to pay it.
I told Trey that she’s not looking for a sugar daddy because she takes of all the bills. She just wants a man who will take her out every now and then.
Just last night, he sent me a text asking if I had an old cell phone he could use. I told him that I didn’t, and this is what transpired:
Trey: Dammit this bill is getton outa hand valentines day is comping up and i have Nooooooo money what else is fuckin new
Trey: Best buy dont wanna hire noone target dont either walmart dont seems like noone wanna hore me
Trey: Hire
Me: Why not sell some of your things?
Trey: What things i aint got shit
Trey: All i got is a xbox and everyone got one
Trey: So all that money will be gone in a weekend and then what ill be right back where i started
*sighs*
From what Liz has told me, he doesn’t apply himself when applying to jobs. He’ll just apply to electronic stores and leave it at that. He does go to school (online classes) and works at a karate studio (makes crappy money). He always posts negative facebook statuses at least once a week. Frankly, I’m tired of it.
The negativity is killing me. She’s told me time and time again that she’s tired of hearing his excuses too. The only reason why she’s still with him is because of love. If it wasn’t for his lack of finances, they’d be perfect.
Well, I’ve made this long enough. Time catch up with all of you guys!
Ugh, I know the feeling of having a mooching boyfriend. For a person like me that’s a big deal. I lost a lot of respect as well as attraction for him because I felt damn near like the man in the relationship. I know how she feels. And I really can’t stand negative people. Things aren’t perfect for anyone. Some folks nee to stop dwelling on the negative and appreciate what they do have.

I can’t stand when people always complain and never do anything about it…

Not a good situation to be in, that’s for sure. My mom married a man like that before she met my dad, and paid every bill for 7 years before it got to be so much stress that she couldn’t take it anymore. A man is supposed to provide for his family. Not be a baby and sit back and let her take care of HIM. Unless he’s really sick or disabled or something I guess. My friend Alice is in the same situation – married to a man that had crappy jobs or no job most of the time while she works all the time and pays the bills. It’s miserable for her, and she regrets even marrying him now. That’s a huge source of stress and misery for a woman. Even if the bills are so much that both people have to work – the man at least should be making a strong effort to get a good job and help out. Sounds like he just wants everything handed to him and for people to feel sorry for him.

Sorry about Trey, I think he needs to man up and take a real job, any job.

I’m sorry to hear of the passing of your cousin. Wow, I hope your friend gets it together 🙁 It’s nothing like a man depending on a woman. She must really love him, because she’s still with him. I hope he finds a job asap! I’m sure that would make their relationship have the missing piece to the puzzle.
