It was a success

Yesterday and today was a lot of fun. Right now I’m sitting here browsing through photos from today’s event but I’ll get to that in a minute…

On Friday, my mom, Amber and I stopped in Conyers for some errands. While they were in Home Depot, I went to PetsMart looking for new fishes to take home with me. When I got there, I saw goldfishes that would look cool in the aquarium here at the house. I ended up purchasing three goldfishes so that was cool. Then, I got on the ‘net and ate before I left to visit my best friend for the rest of the afternoon. Before I went to her house, I went to CVS to buy her a card and a rabbit (she was in a car accident last weekend).

The card said, “If only accidents were like the movies where ten seconds before the accident takes place, a stunt double would replace you will you relax in your jacuzzi!” or something like that. Right before I pulled up in her driveway, I stopped the car and placed the card right next to the mailbox. Then, I pulled up in the driveway where I was greeted by her mom. After exchanging greetings, I went into the living room where my best friend was lying down. She told me we were going to the post office, and Juliet, a small town in Georgia.

She’s doing a lot better than what I had expected. She has an ankle fracture, and back pains (from what I remember). She was on crutches, but now she can kind of walk and drive on her right foot. Her mom wanted me to make sure she didn’t drive over the speed limit and to take over if the pain became too unbearable.

Anyway, we headed to town and to Juliet. Along the way, I heard this comedian (some Bill guy) talking about giving a sign for stupid people. Like some person would come up and ask him the obvious; he would respond in a sarcastic manner and say, “here’s your sign”. I kept saying that to Liz all day yesterday (she threatened to hit me with a wet sock though -_-).

We got home in good fashion. The rest of the evening was spent talking, messing with her dog, talking to her mom, and enjoying each other’s company. Finally, I left around 8:30ish.

I got home fine and dandy but I went to bed waaaaaay earlier than I usually do. I went to bed around 10:20 and woke up around 7:30. I was well rested for today’s tournament.

Today was the innerschool tournament held in a church in Conyers. It was also the day I would meet my instructor’s instructor for the first time. His name is Mr. Quinn and I have to test under him to receive official certification of my third degree. When I met him, he was very kind and open. I told him what we were doing and he was mightily impressed with what we have planned. He also came with some of his own black belts (they are all cool).

The tournament went along without a hitch. Our demo went along very well. Mr. Quinn was quite pleased. He came up to me and said, “you made me proud,” *grins*. It was sooo awesome. His black belts were friendly as well. Throughout the morning, I was helping out Elyse with scoring forms. She talked to me about how things are run up there with Mr. Quinn.

Oh yeah, Mr. Fuller (my instructor), attempted to break 5 boards. On his first attempt, he broke only 2. He looked at me and said, “That’s for you Mr. Kimball”. Blah and he did that to me two times. He’s referring to when I took my test, I had to break three boards. I had to break them in one clean shot and not just one and then the next two. I went through like 24 boards -_-.

Anyway, Mr. Quinn’s black belts did pretty good in forms and sparring. I had sooo much fun, but afterwards, I was hungy. (I have the site of the photos if anyone is interested PhotoReflect. Be sure and click on Jim Fuller’s Challenge and Action Team Demos. I’ll also have a copy of the video soon too).

That’s about all. Have a great evening everyone.

Isn’t Juliet sorta/kinda near Macon? (just being nosy) Another nosy question: did your yellow box ever go away? Sounds like you had an exciting weekend.
