Flying

I’ve been MIA for a while because things have been tight financially. I wrote before how I wasn’t on the schedule at work for weeks. Last Friday, I received a call from my manager asking me if I wanted to work that weekend. She told me that her owner drastically reduced the amount of hours she can disperse among her employees; she said it had nothing to do with my performance or anything. I told her that I would work the weekend. It turns out, she wanted me to work up until yesterday.

I ended up working 10-6 Saturday, 1-6 Sunday, 10-4 Monday, 10-5 Tuesday and 1-7 yesterday. Oddly enough, one of the keyholders is leaving Monday.

He’s been working at Sears since February, and he’s sick and tired of dealing with the manager. He makes the same amount as me, had his hours cut from 40 to 20, and receives no gratification for the job he does. He told her he would be leaving for another job last week, and she told him that ‘she won’t provide him with a good recommendation’.

Matt and I were working together Tuesday when he told me all about his problems with her. In essence, she pretty much wants him to do her job and doesn’t thank him for anything he does. She always places the blame on him too. He also saw that she stole about $30,000 worth of his sales over the past few months.

Yesterday, I was chatting with a fellow co-worker when my manager told him why Matt was leaving. She said that ‘it was good he at least provided a one week notice because that’s better than being fired’. She went on to say that ‘it’s good he didn’t apply for a job seeking a recommendation because I wouldn’t have given him one’.

My manager doesn’t want anyone working a second part-time job, but there just aren’t enough hours to rely on Sears. We all have to wait around for her to e-mail the schedule before Saturday. There’s no telling if any of us would work 10 hours or 25 hours.

Remember my former boss at Aaron’s, Jason? He had been trying to get me hired at Titlemax as a CSR. He was telling me that they work 40 guaranteed hours a week, have every Sunday off, and you would go home every night around 7. I did interview with the district manager, and he instantly liked me. He then recommend that I take the assessment test, and if everything came back fine, I would be hired.

I took the assessment, but I was denied the job due to my credit history.

We are leaving early tomorrow morning to head to the Birmingham Airport. I already have my luggage packed, but I still have to get my haircut and finish cleaning the house. One of my mom’s sisters will be here to watch over the house and Chip while we’re gone. We have plenty of dog food for him and water. I cannot wait to get away from Georgia for a while 🙂

Wow, she sounds like a real bitch. I hope you find something better than that job very soon. And have fun on your vacay.
