First apartment story
I had another good night of rest last night. I actually got up around 10:30 to get my day started. I sat around and watched the Falcons beat the Pack (sorry Jenn :-P). Afterwards, I’ve been working on chores and enjoying a relaxing Sunday.
And now, the daily Nojomo prompt. I love this one.
write about your first apartment, and how it was to live on your own. [something.pretty]
I had my first apartment back in 2007. That year was the worst year but also the best year ever. The year started off like any ordinary year: had a decent job, stable household, etc. I lost my job at Papa Johns because my car ran into a deer while I was coming back from a delivery. With my car out of commission, I had no reliable way to work or deliver pizzas. I did try to use the Suburban to deliver pizza, but that was a horrible idea heh.
I ended up getting a job as a valet at East Lake Golf Club. I had that job for two months before I was hired at Circuit City. I could have worked both jobs, but I tried to rationalize myself that I could work at Circuit City full time–boy was I wrong smh. Anyway, I had put in my two weeks notice at ELGC and only had a week remaining. I was supposed to start at Circuit City on a Friday, and I was supposed to work the opening shift at ELGC. I talked to my assistant manager at the time, and he agreed to let me off that day if I found someone to take my place. I had more than enough time to find a replacement, but I was extremely lazy. Ended up losing that job right before I had worked at Cicuit City.
That same day, I was waiting for Rent a Center to deliver an Xbox 360 to my house. This was one of the dumbest things I could have done.
I started work at Circuit City and applied for an apartment near Atlanta. They an my paperwork and had approved me of the apartment. The weekend before I was supposed to move in, they called me back asking for more information. Since I was fired from ELGC the week before, the verification came back negative, and thus, I lost the apartment.
While at Circuit City, I thought things were going rather well. I was working anywhere from 15-25 hours a week and bringing home a decent check. Slowly over time, however, things started to deteriorate financially. My parents had stopped paying the mortgage, and it was becoming more and more clear that the house was in trouble. On top of that, I was barely able to pay the small bills I had. In fact, I had an overdraft account thanks to giving out my account info to a creditor, and the minuscule money I was making barely made a dent in my account. I had to scrap for change just to get enough gas to make it up there. Also, I didn’t have any money for car insurance, so I was driving 60 miles roundtrip with no insurance–God was surely with me at that time.
Anyway, my hours were constantly dropping at Circuit City, and I was getting desperate. At one point, I had enough and just didn’t show up for work. The gas hand was practically empty, and I had maybe $5 to my name. Prior to my last day, I had put in a request to stop direct deposit to my account. On my last paycheck, I was hoping that I would get a regular check. Instead, the check had been direct deposited :-(.
Fast forward to September 7th, 2007. That day, the power company shut off our lights, and we were forced to stay with my sister for the day. At the end of the night, my parents went back home first. My dad had tremendous pride and decided to go back to a darkened home. I drove back home having hit rock bottom. The only light I had was my psp. I tried my best to sleep, but I found it nearly impossible to do. Finally, I was able to get some sleep, but it didn’t last long.
My dad woke me up and told me someone was taking my car. I looked outside and had already seen my car on the back of a tow truck. My car was repoed, but the guy was nice enough to let me get everything I needed out of the car. It was around 3 in the morning.
I’ll have to continue this story in the next entry. I gotta go and get some sleep.
*HUGS* RYN: No, I don’t do any black Friday shopping. Way to hectic for me. 😉

This is such a sad story, but God was with you the whole time and it shows, although maybe not until later.
