Dilemma
Our transitional manager came in today. Javon and I took out everything that was left in the warehouse to the sales floor. We were working non-stop until it was time for me to take the deposit to the bank. I also went to Taco Bell for the store. BTW, I love the new Doritos Locos tacos. Soo good. I just hate they got rid of the beefy crunch burrito :-(.
Anyway, I spent the rest of the time counting inventory and sending them to our district sales manager. During this time, I overheard the TM talking to the DSM on the phone saying that the Newnan store needs a full-time keyholder. I immediately spoke up and said I would volunteer for the position. He talked to me about the particulars and asked if I was serious about doing it. He made a few calls and immediately demanded requested I drive up to the Newnan store and interview with the OSM (On-site Manager).
Newnan is about 60 miles away, and about 30 miles south of Atlanta. It took me roughly an hour and a half to make it there. The store is pretty nice, and the warehouse is huge.
The OSM, Brenda, wanted me to look around the store, introduce myself, and get comfortable with the surroundings. After my brief tour, we talked a little about the position, and she said the job was mine. Ken, the TSM, is her boss as well. She said that if Ken recommended me, I would be a great asset to the store. I told her that we still have 3 more weeks left before we’ll be forced out of the building. She said I can take my time in making the decision. I live in Oxford, and it would be about a 60 mile drive one-way. She suggested I should request my pay be doubled to compensate.
Here’s my dilemma.
If I take this job, I already know I won’t be commuting. I would get paid every two weeks, and the Suburban isn’t exactly gas friendly. So, 120 mile round trip x 10 = 1,200 miles during a two week period. I’ve thought about staying in a hotel for a week and getting my own place then.
I still have to tell my mom, but I need to talk things over with Ken first. I need to see how much I could have my pay increase, and/or if I could receive assistance for relocating.
The good news is, I’ll have a guaranteed job after the store is closing. I just have to talk things over with my mom and sister.
Well, I’m going to get off of here and relax. I might even go to bed earlier than usual lol.
Wow… tough decision here.
