2011 so far
Can’t believe it’s been over a week since my last entry heh. I’ve actually made it a habit of NOT being on the computer all day everyday like I was in 2010. I went over to an old friend’s house for New Years Eve. I didn’t drink or anything, but we spent most of the time catching up on life. We then watched the peach drop at midnight before I headed home an hour later.
On New Years Day, I spent time over my sister’s house for dinner. My brother-in-law was in town, so we talked about his truck driving adventures. He showed me a few receipts on his gas purchases. One receipt exceeded $470 while another went for around $270. He’s an OTR trucker, and he’s been doing it ever since early Fall. He works for Schneider, and he gets 6 days off a month IIRC. It was a big choice to make because he has a wife and two kids at home, but he felt it was absolutely necessary to do it. From what I gather, he’s loving it so far.
While I was over my sister’s, Trey and his girlfriend were each texting me. They wanted to know if I would come over for an “island cuisine”. I told them that I was stuffed from eating, but I would love to come over later that evening. Trey’s g/f made jerk chicken, lemon pepper wings, red beans and rice, empanadas, pasta salad, and something else. She also had wine, gin, and margaritas. Fortunately for me, she also had coke, sprite and ice tea. I ended up taking a plate home before I left.
They had also invited a couple of her co-workers as well. I got along with them pretty well, but I knew I couldn’t stay too long; I had already planned on getting up early Sunday morning to go to the Falcons game. I went on in around midnight to get ready for the next day.
Sunday, I went to the game and had a great time. We clinched the NFC South against the Carolina Panthers. After the game, I stopped by a nearby Burger King to get something to eat. I immediately crashed for a nap when I made it home. I finished up my laundry after I woke up from my nap.
My nieces went back to school on the 5th, so I spent Monday with them at my house. On a side note, my sister works from home (she works for ADP). The main office is in Alpharetta, and that takes at least 2 hours for her to get there one-way. So, even though she works from home, her kids can’t really make too much noise.
Aerial challenged me to a game of the New Super Mario Bros for the Wii. I was racking up 1ups while she was dying and using continues in every stage LOL. Afterwards, I wanted to see Little Fockers, so we went to the movie theater at the mall. That turned out to be a huge mistake because the two people in front of us couldn’t shut up throughout the whole movie. The nieces picked themselves food from Little Tokyo while I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza.
In other news, I have started a financial goal for the first half of the year. I plan on having $1,500 in my savings account by May 1st. I already posted the amount in my calendar and on my Wells Fargo account. I feel like I needed a change in mindset. I need to seriously think long-term instead of always using up my money. I also need to treat my savings account like it doesn’t even exist. In other words, I need to resist the temptation to always tap into my savings account for a dollar here and a dollar there.
Over the past 48 hours, we’ve been in a winter advisory. We were projected to receive anywhere from 2-4″ of snow on Sunday, as well as freezing rain and ice start falling on Monday. It started sleeting Sunday evening around 7, and it quickly turned to snow around 9. I went outside around 10:40 and was amazed at how much snow fell already:

The governor has declared a State of Emergency; pretty much everything has shut down, so we’re not planning on going anywhere tomorrow. My mom and I finished all of our errands and shopping needs over the weekend. It’s expected to stop snowing late tomorrow (around 11 p.m.). There’s no telling how long it will take before all the snow will finally melt.
Anyway, it’s getting late, and I’m out of here.
ryn: You’re welcome! And I didn’t say “orajel”, I said “Anbesol”… BIG difference, mainly that Orajel sucks and Anbesol kicks ass! Anyways… Glad you enjoyed your NYE, and your nieces sound adorable. Wanna save my money, too? I’m horrible with that. Oh, and, there’s a town kinda-near me where they drop a pickle at midnight on NYE. No joke.

mmm, trey’s food sounds so GOOD! I love that stuff! I’ve taken to calling out the people who talk at movies. I PAID to see it, not hear them talk. It’s BS how rude people are!

ryn: Anbesol is amazing! And I would’ve suggested Excedrin instead of Aleve. But at least you found something that works… Did you get them taken care of?
