Final Final and Job Interview

"Life is a grindstone. Whether it grinds us down or polishes us up depends on us." ~Thomas L. Holdcroft

Well, Angel left for Taiwan at 3:00 in the morning Tuesday. Monday night we said goodbye to one another. I gave her a card telling her how fabulous she is and what a great roommate she was. She gave me a graduation card telling me congratulations and that she really enjoyed being my roommate. She also gave me balloons, two that say hip-hip hooray and one that is a graduate with cap and diploma. It was so sweet and of course I cried.

I was getting ready to go to bed and I started getting all emotional about leaving people and all that stuff. I called Manny because he knows me well enough to tell me that things will be okay. However, he didn’t answer his phone. So, I cried for a few minutes and then passed out.

Woke up on Tuesday morning to find a note written on my dry erase board from Angel. Just a short note in English and Chinese to say goodbye and good luck. She is so sweet. Well, I turned my computer on and was piddling around the apartment, getting ready to study for my phonetics final, when Manny messaged me. We started talking and he told me he was asleep when I rang but wanted to know what was up. I told him and he teased me a bit, but also told me that things would be fine.

We talked a bit and then discussed finals, like we have all week. He asked me when my final was and I told him that I thought it was at 1:30, but I wasn’t positive. I went to go check the syllabus and realized that my final was at 10:30. I was to have a final in less than two hours and I wasn’t that stressed about it. Manny joked at me freaking out and told me to go freak out one more time, and I went to study.

Well, a little before noon I got out of my final. I called Manny to inform him that I had just taken my last college exam. We talked for a bit and then he went back to studying. I called Darry because he had finished on Monday and we discussed how it was so great to finally be done. After talking to him, I headed to my flat to continue packing and load some stuff in my car to take home.

Drove back to my parent’s house and unloaded my car. Spent the evening with my parents, hanging out and talking. The reason I drove back, other than to drop stuff off, was for my job interview. I had to interview with the man that interviews people applying for the assistant management position. He and I had a really good interview this morning and he told me that he could really see me working for this company. He told me that I needed to interview with the district manager. Knowing that finals are this week and I am in Mexico next week and he is on vacation the week after that, he told me to call him June 6 to set up an interview with the district manager. So my plan is to do that and hopefully get a job with them. It is good money and it would be great experience. So, fingers crossed.

Drove back to uni today. Just sitting at work killing time. I should be packing my apartment, however I have to work. So I will work till 7 and then I am going home to pack for two hours. Go to bed at 9, sleep till 3 in the morning. Head to work and cover for someone until 6. Then head back to my place to continue packing. Then my father will come up and we will pack all of my belongings into a trailer that he will take home. Then I’ll work at 6.

The next two weeks, basically, I will be living out of a suitcase. I can manage that. But, this packing up means I probably won’t be able to read for a while and then I won’t when I am in Mexico. So I will read when I get the chance.

I know this must be a bittersweet time for you, but I’m so happy that you have had such wonderful friends and such a great college career. It sounds as if you have a number of good prospects ahead as well. Keep writing, Bellamafia. We love reading all about you…

Final finals are kind of anti-climactic, I think. You get done, turn it in, and walk quietly out of the room. I at least expected one of those “TA-DA!!” noises that I get at the end of Spider Solitaire, but no.

Congratulations on the finals being over and the interview going well. I’m really excited for your future and looking forward to hearing all about it.

Glad finals are done and that you will be able to take a break in Mexico. I was so sad when my uni days were over, but then again change is so hard for me, I get really nostalgic.
