Final College Class And More
"As you said through life,
Don’t avoid rough waters,
Sail on because calm waters
won’t make a skillful sailor."
~Unknown
Things are picking up and I’m procrastinating. Surprise, surprise, I’m putting off doing work. However, I was reading earlier, which not school related, but isn’t rotting my brain.
I had my final university classes on Wednesday. The last class I had was a good ending and I think I’ve had a pretty incredible college career. All the people I’ve met, friends I’ve made, places I’ve traveled and memories I’ve created show me that I’m truly blessed.
I should be studying for my one final or at least working on my paper that is due in a few days, however, I’ll get to those. I have one final, Spanish phonetics. It shouldn’t be too bad. I’m planning on studying for that one on Monday. Then I have a paper to write for my Recent Popular Literature class. I’m planning on spending the whole day on that one tomorrow. Since I’m working tomorrow, I should have plenty of time to do it.
Tonight I had plans with Kim to go see a burlesque production of The Birds. However, Kim’s allergies are dreadful, causing her to feel terrible. Therefore I will not be going to the production this evening. Maybe some other time. I could spend this evening packing things, or studying, or maybe I’ll just take a shower, shave my legs and read some more.
Graduation is in a week and causing plenty of stress. People are coming to town to see Darry and I walking down the hill, dressed in our robes, to recieve our diplomas. I will recieve my undergraduate degree and Darry will recieve his law degree. I’m very proud of both of us. We’ve worked our tails off for this and I think we have both had a good time while doing it. I’m not sure I’m ready to close this chapter of my life, but I’m thinking it’s going to happen whether I say anything about it or not. So truthfully, I’m a little sad to see it end. I’ve had so much fun and there are so many great memories. Perhaps I will now divide my journal into chapters and start a new one.
On the job search front, I’ve found something that sounds promising. I applied for a position of a pharmacy technician in my hometown. However, I found out the pay is crap. However, during that interview, the woman who was conducting the interview asked me if I wanted to apply for the position of Assistant Manager of this drug store. I assumed one would have to have a business degree, but I was wrong. The pay is good, the management program is good with plenty of opportunity for advancement, and I’m limited to 44 hours a week. The only negative is that one week a month I would work the night shift. However, I’m already used to that with my job. So I interview for that position on Wednesday. My fingers are crossed because it is good money and great experience. I could do that for three or four years and then move on to another job. Where I can say that I’ve actually had experience. I truly hope these people want me. From the interview with the woman, she seemed pretty taken with me. I sent a thank you note to her after the interview for her time. We shall see and I’ll try and update with information as it occurs. Plus ten days of vacation in the first year!!!! YAY!!!
Okay, other than the job search. Family vacation in about a week and a half. Family (Mom, Dad, Darry, Dulce and Me) and family friends (Dusty, Bry and his wife, Dean and his girl) are all headed to Mexico for a week. I’m living for this. I’m looking forward to laying on the beach, with una cerveza michilada in one hand and a good book in another. Fresh pineapple, fabulous hot chocolate, and fantastic time with friends and family. This is bound to be interesting. We are headed back to Playa Del Carmen and staying in a hotel my parents have stayed at before. Seems pretty cool and I’ll post a link in my next entry.
So, I promised to write about some things in this entry, however, I’m only going to write about one because I want to remember this. A few weeks ago, Terena, Niki, Pate and I all went out on a Thursday night. Kenya told us to come down to the Sandwich Bar because it wasn’t crowded and he promised strong drinks. We get there and sit down at a table with drinks. Kenya sits with us and Niki is looking through her purse and realizes the she has white panties in her purse. Kenya sees them and dares her to give them to the bar tender. Kenya says he will give all four of us shots if Niki gives her panties to the bartender. Since Kenya is the assistant manager, he can actually get us free drinks. Niki gives her panties to the bar tender and we end up getting free lemon drops. Well, she gives the bartender a dollar to get her panties back and he ends up giving her two free shots. Oh, how entertaining. Just a memory I didn’t want to forget.
Now, shower, shave and book.
Life is full of those neat memories. I just sat through graduation – wish I could be at yours to shake your hand, wish you luck and say “keep in touch” Imagine me there in my cap and gown, grinning and clapping for you. And good luck with the interview – remember you are interviewing THEM too! *hug*

Good luck on the interview, it sounds like they are trying to convince you that you want it which is a good sign. Best of luck on the paper and the final, I hope graduation is as enjoyable as the rest of your experience, mine was. My hubby and his parents were in Playa del Carmen back in Sept, I had to work so I was stuck here, but he had a great time so it was well worth it…
