Santa Fe plans…

Our long weekend in Santa Fe fast approaches.  There is a welcoming cocktail party Thursday night, an informal dinner at Epazote on Friday, and a formal dinner at Geronimo.  The latter has me intrigued, I admit.  The menu looks quite adventurous, and the soundtrack to the website is precious.

And we have a nice addition to the trip plans.  LVS, a pottery artist we met in St. Paul, MN on the F. Scott Fitzgerald Birthday Bash in 2010, lives in Santa Fe.  She and her husband are joining us for dinner Friday, then will be our tour guides Saturday afternoon.  Her e-mail today was hilarious – "You’ll know we’ve arrived by the smell of smoke–I’ve got a raku firing that afternoon.

We’re staying at La Fonda, an old Harvey House hotel.  I’ve wanted to stay here ever since reading the book, Appetite for America: Fred Harvey and the business of civilizing the Wild West, by Stephen Fried.  A great .pdf file with the history of the hotel can be found here.

ryn: I respectfully disagree…his character is an emotionless thug who sees murder as a means to an end…that’s pretty wooden in my book.

Unusual menu…nice fusion of French and mainly Japanese. You do lead an interesting life.
