Note to self, get younger friends…

Lady Wife and I got to see some old friends in New York over the weekend.  Thank goodness TW is in fine fettle, as the rest of our circle seems to be dying.

AC, who at 56 developed aggressive small-cell prostate cancer, now has metastases to the bone.  I give him a 30% chance of seeing another year.  VT, who is 54, has a lifetime of hard living catching up with him.  The coronary, liver and neurological implications mean he looks 15 years older, and I’ll be amazed if he sees Christmas unless he has some extreme medical intervention.

Work is, as expected, both fun and challenging.  I had a Night of the Long Knives last week, getting rid of two quality directors, a CNO and a chief of medicine who were not performing.  And I have a CEO at one hospital in my cross-hairs.

More to come.

Get your friends tested first 🙂

How about keeping your friends alive?

How sad; your friends aren’t even old.

I can relate. I lost scores of friends back the the height of the AIDS epidemic in the late 80’s-early 90’s.
