I am well, but possibly insane…
There are those moments in life when you are asked to do something, say yes, then wonder why you agreed to do it.
This is not quite one of those moments, but I did agree to one year as a corporate Chief Medical Officer for a three- (soon to be four) hospital network of over 1,000 beds in New York. I’m back in Manhattan every week, which I love, and dealing with people who work at my pace. But as a C-Level you have to deal with all the corporate politics, which I do with all the subtlety of a chainsaw going through kindergarten class. The body count is sure to be horrific, as the three hospitals are used to doing their own thing, and my job is to make them an integrated system. This will be fun.
Great challenge, congratulations š

Ha, small world – I heartily hope it goes a lot smoother than it’s looking.

Woof. The carnage should be interesting. Good luck and congratulations — I know you will be whipping them into shape and a much better team.

I have a friend in Brazil who runs many, many hospitals. He tells me from time to time about the rigamarole of his day-to-day life…it doesn’t sound pretty but it certainly pays well!

Big job and I foresee a lot of frustration. You’ll need to take many vacations in Venetia.

Should be interesting at least. Good luck.
